Why? Is it because your car opener doesn't work, or is it because your door opens on its own periodically? Most newer garage door openers have a 'learn' button that will accept a signal from almost any remote controller provided that you follow the specific 'learning' procedure. It's relatively quick and easy. Older garage door openers had little dip switches that were ableTo be set to different positions which caused a change of frequency reception. Each remote has to be set to the same frequency to operate the door. There was a chance you'd be able to get some universal remotes to work for those dip-switched openers but we're troublesome. Gotta know more of your circumstance to really provide improved help.

How do I change the code on my garage door opener. Have one and lost one.

Press an hold the learn button on the garage door opener for 10 seconds. You will notice an amber LED either next to or above the learn button. When the LED goes out the anything that was previously programed will be deleted. Now press and release the learn button once the amber LED will come on steady. Now press the button on the garage door opener you want to program to the garage door opener. You will hear a click and the light bulb on the garage door opener will go off and come back on. Your garage door opener remote is now programed with a new code.

You cannot change the code of the opener without purchasing new remotes and not using your existing remotes. To change the code of the keypad locate the smart/learn button just to the left of all those white wires. Press and immediately release this and then walk over and key in any 4 digit number and press enter.

UNPLUG THE UNIT AND WAIT 5 MIN.
WHEN YOU PLUG IT BACK IN CLAER ALL CODES BY HOLDING DOWN THE PROGRAM BUTTON FOR 20 SECONDS.
NOW TRY TO PROGRAM EACH REMOTE AND KEYPAD - IF THERE IS STILL A PROBLEM CHANGE THE BATTERIES AND REPEAT THIS PROCEDURE.
