When I try to start the self cleaning cycle of my oven, I get codes F5 and E1. The model number is KGRT507 FALO. It's about 11 years old.
If it's expensive to fix, can I use easy off if I wipe it off right away instead of waiting for several hours?
Thanks so much for your quick response. I actually jiggled the latch and fixed it (I guess it was dirty or got a little off center when we moved it from my sister's house). From now on, I'll use an oven cleaning product. I'll go and try to cancel the self cleaning now. (If I use the range, it turns off the self cleaning part, according to the manual). Thanks so much for your quick response. Re: I can't get it to self clean. Can I use easy off?
Your part number is 9751439 approx. cost $118.00.
Self cleaning ranges can be cleaned with any oven cleaning product. Most repair technicians do not recommend using the self clean feature.
Too many repair problems ensue.

This is what I used on my Kitchenaid Superba maybe it will work on yours also.
Hold the "oven light" then push the "CLEAN" button and then the "START" button. Wait until "Door Locked" shows on screen. Press "Cancel/Off" (Upper Oven) wait until "Door Locked" turns off. The oven F5 E1 is now fixed.

Those code pertain tom the latch for the self cleaning. You must start with the latch and the malfunction with the latch. In most cases, the latch will remain locked even after the self clean cycle is complete.
Error E1 F5 means that the control has detected a problem with door latch switch.Switch off the power and unplug it from the mains. Check after 5-6 minutes whether the error has disappeared. If the error is still there then once again start the self clean cycle. Press the self-clean button to start the cycle. The panel becomes blank (---), then press the up arrow (^). The panel will appear 3:00 (indication for the duration of self-cleaning). The oven will lock on its own and start the self-cleaning. After self cleaning is done wait for 15-20 minutes and open the door. Try moving the latch manually to unlock it. hope this helps...
Hello- The code you describe- E1 F5 - indicates a problem with the door switch. This little switch tends to fail during or after the 'self-clean' function is used. The switches are difficult to get to on some of these units so plan on just replacing it with a new one. This part is available locally at an appliance parts store with a complete model # from range tag. When power is re-connected, door motor should cycle back to correct position. Remember- techs call it 'self-destruct', so avoid 'self-clean'. The tried and true cleaning methods are a lot less destructive on the circuits and electronics. Let me know if this info helps- have more if needed. Thanks- Ed.
Press the self-clean button. The panel becomes blank(---), then press
the up arrow( ^ ). The panel will appear 3:00 (indication for the
duration of self-cleaning). The oven will lock on its own and start the
self-cleaning.
This code means the control has detected a problem with the door latch
switch. Switch is defective and needs replaced. Part # is W10107820 and
cost is $39.99. You can get it at http://www3.sears.com/.
Before calling a repair shop,go to the circuit breaker box and
turn off the power to the oven. then turn it back on and then see if the door is released and the error is cleared.
its probaly bent door latch or door sensor gone bad. try pushing on the door when you start the clean cycle see if that helps.
if not our suggestion would be to replace the part....
good luck...
if you got insight into your problem from us , A very helpful rating is appreciated for answering your question
try this
1. Verify error code by pressing and holding CANCEL/OFF key for 5 seconds.
Momentarily (less than 5 sec.) press CANCEL key again to remove error code
display.
2. Press and hold any key for 1 minute until F2 E0 code is displayed.
3. Cancel F2 E0 error code.
4. Program and start the clean mode. Observe to see if door locks. If it does not,
inspect the locking mechanism from the solenoid to the latch pawl and door to
find the cause of the problem. If the door is not locking, then 1 minute from the
start of clean, the F5 E1 code will again be displayed. Steps 1 through 3 will
have to be repeated before another clean can be started.
5. Once any mechanical problems with the latch mechanism have been corrected,
program and start a clean cycle (after, if necessary, clearing F5 E1 error code)
to ensure proper operation of the door lock. Immediately cancel the clean mode to observe proper operation of door unlock
My experience (Kenmore Ultra-bake Model 665-72002102) was that E1 F5 meant an error with the oven lock switch. In our case, the latch was partly stuck from food or other debris. Just moving the latch back and forth loosened the scale that was making it stick, and it worked again.
