Hello, I have a Dyson DC31 and she keeps shutting down. Most of the time she will shut down as fast as you pull the trigger, other times she will only power up for about 5 seconds before shutting back down.

SOURCE: I have the same problem as steve967 The dyson

Dear Michael_Stad,

I am going to sound like a broken record but here is my same answer to another person with the same problem.

I have I had the same problem with my Dyson DC16, where it only runs for a few seconds at a time with each trigger pull. My husband called Dyson (Canada) and without hassle they shipped us a replacement part which I just received this morning. The replacement part sent to us is: DC16 Main Body with Rating Plate. It is also under warranty for 1 year. The great customer service makes up for the flaw in the machine. Also, Dyson is aware of the problem. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Power shuts off on my dyson dc17 animal

I had the same issue. Got on the phone with Dyson. THe vacuum has a safety feature where if the motor gets too hot it cuts off. You have to leave it for 45 minutes or so and then it will work again. There is an underlying issue though. My problem was the black gasket thats in the debris bin shifted, probably from when emptying i pushed it on something. The black gasket should actually hang off the bottom like a skirt and the 2 groves should fit in on the groves of the gray mechanism. This seal is what provides 100% suction. Because of this..my vaccumm has been accumulating pet hair by the belt which i hear alot of people talking about and especially in the filter area. This is because I broke the seal by not having the gasket in place properly and it wasnt sucking 100%. They are sending me a complete new cyclone unit which has the debris catcher as well as she said its probably so caked up with debris it will never work again 100%. no questions asked they are sending it to me free of charge.

So if you remove the clear cyclinder debris catch thing all you will have is the purple cyclone on top and on the bottom is the black rubber gasket....

SOURCE: I have a dyson hand held that shuts off after just

yeap..... i just found a fix for this ,, its mad how easy it is to fix as well...and it works 100%,,,
now dyson implemented a filter magnetic switch if u take your filter off you will see a small magnet in the corner,, u will notice where the magnet is behind it is rased platic,, now,,that the problem on the main board the transistor that picks up magentic signal from the filter is dud,!
dont ask me why it happens,, its a pain i know.,.
now take off collection pot for dust now take battery off.

now where the serial number is theres 2 hex screws that need taking out..

now u will see a small pcb board.. remove with one tiny security screw holding it in,, once removed pull both red plug off thats the digital motor plug.. and white plug which is vcc..to battery,, once u have done this pull the board down and back gently. as there is a long bit of board that goes up the back of the dyson plastic be very carefull pull this out.. now the long and thin pcb board that is hidden is what we need there is a tiny transistor,,, we need to remove this carefully..once removed,, we solder a thin wire from 2 point A+C need to be soldered together with a thin piece of wire, it will not harm the motor.. as long as u keep it clean,,

these points corolate to the transistor,,

A

B C

SOLDER AND A+C WITH A FINE PIECE OF WIRE NOW,, AND WALLAH... fixed put it all back together again,,, charge the battery,, and your away,,, working again,, if not u have other faults.. but 99% fix this with flashing red led,,,!!

I have a dyson DC 3.5 model 11-6300 d1 it will run about 30 sec then shut down the green light will keep flashing whenever I tried to run it then shut down

the flashing light is to tell u that there is something blocking the suction of machine , most times its a full dust cup or hepa filter blocked this if allowed to continue will over heat the motor so it shuts off to prevent motor damage

Dc31 flashes green

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Usually if the indicator light flashes green when the trigger is pulled, this means the machine needs to be charged. If you have had your machine connected to the charger assembly for over 3.5 hours and continue to see the flashing green light, this could mean the machine isn't recharging correctly.

In order for us to diagnose which part is at fault we'd need to take you through some simple diagnostic checks when you have your machine to hand. You can reach our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

DC31 not working light comes on when I pull the triger

Hi Robert, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC31's light comes on when you pull the trigger, but the machine itself doesn't run, it could mean that the battery needs charging. I would suggest connecting it to the charger and allowing it to recharge fully for 3.5 hours.

If you find that this doesn't resolve the issue we'd appreciate the opportunity to take you through some quick diagnostic checks. This will help us to determine what may be causing the fault. and what's needed to resolve it

Broken trigger on dc31

I had the same problem where the trigger doesn't always work (it works if I turn the unit upside down). I've since worked out it's the battery contacts which just needs a bit of a clean. It works now no matter which way I'm holding it.
