Black horizontal lines. Looks like I am looking through venetian blinds

I own a 2000 VS-45607 mitsubishi projection t.v. I have horizontal black lines, which looks like I am looking through venetian blinds. When the tv is cold they are really bad, but get better after the tv has warmed up. What should I do?

horizontal lines are constant now...at first, I just had horizontal lines and some "pulsing" of the picture but after it warmed up, it would be fine...

but now....its horizontal and flashing and totally irritating.....my tv cost over $4500 in 2000....I would appreciate any advise on how to get it fixed vs buying a newer or new tv.....

takes over an hour of warm up time to make the lines go away...

i have black horizontal lines on the same model. used to they would go away after the set warmed up, now they are constant, even after tv has been on all day.

i also have the horizontal lines while the tv is cold, but lately they are still there to some degree after the tv is warmed up.

OK this problem is caused by a failing electrolytic capacitor back in the power supply. It's job is to filter AC interfence from that voltage source. Locating the correct capacitor is something not for a do-it-yourselfer. A respectable tv shop experienced with Mitsubishi tv's can usually repair this problem in your home. Average repair cost would be between $200 and $300.

Do i need a new circut board???

Good Day;

I don't think so. CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.

I have repaired 50 or 60 of these.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

VS-45607

sounds like a defective cappacitor or leaky diode in the deflection circuits. Unless youre comfortable working around the high voltage circuits of a rear projection set, it may be best to call a reputable repair facility that is famillair with mitsubishi products.

Blue lines in screen

Sounds like the blue crt is either shorted or one of the resistors on the blue CRT PC board is open

Picture has horizontal lines that move to middle of screen........

Just got this fixed. The problem is the 21 (yes, 21) main capacitors. It'll only get worse if they aren't replaced. The whole screen'll start jumping, multi-hour "warm up" times until you get a clear picture, maybe not even then... it isn't pretty. Just nip it in the bud now, and more power to you if you tackle it yourself. A good repair shop ought to be able to do this for under $400 if you can't.

VS-45607 Mitsubishi rear projection TV

Oh good, two people. I was getting weary of attempting to slightly change my answer for all the other people who didn't use the "has the same problem" feature. Anyway, the problem both of you have is not too far gone yet, but will get worse if you let it. It's the main capacitors. Maybe not all 21, but probably at least half of the 21 main caps are shot. All should be replaced at any rate. Any shop worth it's salt ought to be able to do this for you for under $400 if you can't do this yourself.
