Sounds like a power board problem. Aging Cpacitors or a Resistor going out after it warms up.

SOURCE: remote stop working

You should verify if the remote has failed. Contact the support for Vizio, or ask your dealer where you can buy original replacement accessories.

Most of the time, we've seen the remote fail. Sometimes we are able to service the remote. Sometimes, the IR LED and or the crystal fails in the remotes. If it is more than this, it is impossible to have internal service parts for most remotes. It takes service experience to be able to change these parts.

On rare occasions the IR remote sensor and remote processor area in the set can have a failure. It is best to try another remote to verify this before sending the set for service.

The most common causes of failure of a remote controller is dropping, rough handling, getting food and drink inside, or putting the batteries in backwards.

SOURCE: Hooking up surround sound to TV

You have to get an optical audio cord.

The optical output on the vizio is right next to the ac cord. Make sure that your audio amp has the same input conection.

I lose Audio from internal speakers Vizio

This issue is actually caused by my cable box. Access the audio SETTINGS on Hand held Cable Remote, and turn on the HDMI and or "Digital Audio Out" option. found on 'more' settings list. This should fix the issue. I had assumed the Cable companeis 'Boot' would have installed this feature during its initialization.

You can also try to take out the batteries and push all of the buttons with the batteries out of the remote. Then put the batteries back in and push the power button on the remote. If this doesnt work press the two TV buttons at the same time and the remote should be fine.

Vizio L42HDTV10A sound problems

In my case, turning the surround sound OFF is what fixed the problem. The bass contibutes most to the perception of the location of a sound. If surround is ON without surround speakers connected, the internal TV speakers can only take the place of what would be the front speakers in a surround system. So turn surround OFF and set your bass preference wherever you want it. That worked for me.
