High speed on the blower fan does not work thru the resistor.
There is a seperate circuit that sould feed 12 volts directly to the motor. If you have access to a schematic it would help.
The connectors for the high speed, burn out a lot. If you cant find I could look it up.

The blower motor resistor is a common to fail and cause your problem. It is located on the passenger side on the underside of the dash. There are two screws that hold it in and very simple to replace. Check the wiring and connectors that go to it. There is an udated version that you can buy if you notice any burnt look to it. The other wires go to the heater motor and will need to be unplugged. Just reinstall the new one and give it a shot.

Check or have checked the blower motor resistor. These resistors will cause this problem. I would go this route first as these are relatively inexpensive and usually the problem.

More than likely this should just be your resistor. You have different sized coils on the back of your resistor for all the different fan speeds. if one of them burns out or breaks then that certain speed will not work.

There is an updated resistor/connector package. Very expensive from GM, try your local NAPA or other parts supplier for a replacement

Blower motor not working 2005 GMC sierra resister ground pin burnt

small_car4.png Wiring problem of the 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 6 Failure Date: 07/18/2009

The connector that plugs into the blower motor under the glove box became too hot and melted the plastic resulting in the a/c and heat not to work (this includes the windshield defroster). I've been looking up problems and solutions and found that this is a recurring problem with GMC and chevy trucks yet there has not been any recall, in fact the dealerships have an extremely overpriced kit to fix their faulty wiring. About 66,000 mi.

2000 gmc Sierra, a/c heater control switch only works on numbers 4

You have a bad blower motor resistor that is bad.It is located on the passengers side under the dash.Just turn the blower on the speed that it works and follow the blower motor noise when it is on.The resistor is what controls the speeds. You will probably find that the wires on the connector are melted. You will have to replace the connector and the resistor.I have done a few of these repairs. You will need to remove a plastic panel from under the dash first.3or 4, 7mm screws. You might get a letter in the mail from G.M.You can also cal the dealership and find out if your vehicle is involved in this letter.Hope this helps.Good luck.

A/ c switch/blower did not work on levels 1,2,3, only on 4&5 now 4&5 does not work. could it be the switch or blower?

neither. it sounds like you have to replace blower control resistor. you can locate this part by look close to the blower motor. also the connectors have alot of issues with heating up and melting. This causes no power from making its way to the blower motor. in this case you will need to change the connector and the resistor.

Location of blower resistor for 2005 GMC sierra 2500HD

Hi, the blower module that is located at the bottom of the heater box, next to the blower motor, above the panel below the glove box, has a tendancy to go bad, possibly overheat, and melt the larger of the two connectors. This can lead to one or all sppeds inop. the module will need to be replaced, and th connector inspected. If the connector is melted, or discolored, it needs to be replaced. A pigtail with wires, and connectors, as well as the resistor, should be available at a local GMC or Chevy dealer. Good luck...Coop

2005 gmc sierra blower wont turn on

Check the fuse first thing. If the fuse it good then either the blower motor speed control switch, blower motor resistor pack, or the blower motor itself is bad. Normally the speed control switch rarely goes bad. If some of the speeds did not work prior to total failure then the resistor pack is bad. If that is not the case then apply 12 volts directly to the blower motor to see if it is good. If it runs suspect the resistor pack as the culprit.

2004 GMC Sierra 4dr truck. the fan does not work

The switch or the wire harness at the blower motor has gone bad. The highest setting 5 has no resistor, so the blower runs on high but the high current flow ends up burning up the switch's contact on that setting or the resistor wire harness at the blower motor has gone bad. Common would be the switch it self, if the switch is good. Then it's going to be the wire leads at the speed resistor by the blower motor under the glove box by the passenger leg compartment. Keep me posted, be glad to help you get your Sierra running 100% again soon.

The heater fan stopped working I am suspecting a fuse or the motor. When you turn the fan on nothing happens.

The resistor module, and the plug connector, and known problems in 1999-2006 blower motors for many GM trucks.

Did you also change the connector at the same time?

Here is a step-by-step check you can do to fix it. If you are only getting high speed (setting 5), then most likely you have a resistor problem, or the wiring connector to the resistor is bad. The ground wire prong being bad is a possible cause.

Check this for step-by-step checks:
