I just cleaned my non self cleaning stove; a task I thought would be daunting. I sprayed some oven cleaner in my cold stove, closed the door and left it overnight. The next morning, everything wiped clean VERY easily. I was surprised. then, I had to try to get the oven racks back in...hilarious! I actually stopped trying for a while, and that's how I found this site. Anyway, after 2 breaks of frustrating effort to get the racks back in, I realized I only needed to FLIP THE RACK OVER! The triangles on the front sides of the rack should point up...although it seems as if it should be the opposite. I guess I should have paid attention to what they looked like before I took them out.

Oh. I just figured out my own version of this problem when I read this. (This is a real DUH moment...) The ridges (triangles) go in the front, not the back. OK, I have to go put my racks back in correctly now before I break something.

Stuck racks work best with pam cooking spray, then slide the racks out and up...

I could not put the racks in and it was driving me crazy.. SO on my racks one side is flat one is curved up..I simply pushed in the side that was curved up first to the back of oven and in they went! I am not sure if they are in properly put who cares..they are in..and I am not worried about pulling them out too far when I check food because that would rarely happen anyway right?? Hold the rack..curved side to the back..up where your fingers until the curved part has passed the silly ridges in your oven..then flatten the rack and push in..thats it job done!!
Thank you thank you thank you. I have had a litany of baking disasters today, culminating in tipping the first viable pan of cookies out all over the oven once they'd finished. Had to remove the racks quickly to get at all the mess in the bottom of the oven before they immolated, and then, with exactly one pan's worth left of dough, I couldn't get those dang racks back in. I think I may have scraped some of my oven coating off with my bad attempts. Your ways worked. Thank you thank you thank you. My husband is laughing his head off at me. :(
U are close...but u put them in upside down.....the curved part does go to the back but if its not sliding in easy for u then it is upside down....flip it over, keeping the curved part in the back and make sure that it is curved up and not down.

Try starting with the bottom rack first, and make sure the rack is tilted up as far as it will go as you slide it into place.

I had this same problem with mine (still posted under unsolved) This is the simpler model with the old turn style knob and the lever you slide over to lock the door for cleaning What I think (keep in mind I know little about ovens, more about cars) is that the switch that tells the oven the door is latched is staying engaged, and this is part of the lever mechanism. I cleaned and lubed this mechanism (obviously I would guess you want to use a food safe lubricant) and then moved the lever several times with the oven on so I could see if it turned on. After a few tries the cleaning light went off and the oven light came on. No, its not really a technical answer, all indications to me where that the problem was in the switch which is part of the latch mechanism. Good luck

Have you tried unplugging it and then reapplying power after a few minutes? Sometimes a power down/up cycle will reset the logic..

I understand that you are receiving a "remove racks" message on your Electrolux range. The oven racks and supports must be removed before the self-clean will initiate or the control will not allow the self-clean to turn on. I hope this is helpful. -Matt
