Burner stays on high even on low setting - Kenmore Elite 44173 30 in. Electric Cooktop

Rheostat for that burner is no good. Replace it.

Faulty switch if you are changing it yourself remember turn off power and take your time, take a photo to compare so you get it right.

You could have a shorted burner, if it is not then you may have gotten a bad part.

I'm having the same problem! Except I'm not guarenteed any heat even on high.

its not suppose to stay on for long time...its suppose to recycle...set it at high heat all burners should come on for few seconds and then go off for few seconds...small burner do faster then bigg ones

it is the burner switch that needs to be replaced.the thermocouple function is built in the switch.

not related any further then sounds as if you have 2 burner switches gone bad,and actually the front right burner is controlled by a electronic control circuit board part retails for about $160-$200 part number 12002723, and left rear switch about $30 part number 74007841 . uint needs to be uninstalled from counter and parts changed by removing the bottom panel

try to clean the burner and then try it.

you set it fro low and goes straigt to high???? no adjustment in heat setting either of or high?? if so youll need to repalce the infinte switch controllins that burner
