Onkyo 605 loss of audio on HD channels only

I have an Onkyo 605 that just lost audio only on Directv HD channels (both HD programming and non-HD programs). I can switch to the non HD channels and everything works beautifully. When on the HD channel, the receiver's PCM readout just continues to flash off and on. I believe my kid may have touched something on the remote, but I just can't figure it out. Thanks

I was able to get back to status quo by hitting the "digital input" button on the receiver to get the correct setting. Thanks

On your directv box, go to menu, setup, setup again, then audio, then dolby digital on the right and turn it on. assuming you have an optical audio cable from your sat box to your onkyo.

Are you running the sound directly from the DirecTV box to the Onkyo reciever? or is it routed through the TV first? Personally if you have it routed through the TV you are losing out on true 5.1 surround. To ge that you need to have the DirecTV box connected via optical or digital output (orange connector) to your Onkyo amplifier. If you need further assistance please email me at tvtek(at)msn.com

Loss of audio from onkyo 605

If the settings are correct, then it is just like the 605 I had, its broken. Get one made by someone else if the warranty has expired on it. I suggest Pioneer.

No surround sound from my PS3 through the Onkyo 5100. Video OK

Unfortunately only the higher end Onkyo Reciever pass audio over HDMI for sound. 605,705,805,905 exc. Your reciever will carry Video over HDMI but you will need a digital optical cable for sound.

thanks.
