Rheem heat pump kicks on 410a unit comp & os fan run also inside fan. Vapor line gets hot and then comp shuts down os fan continues to run also inside fan. No warm air inside air just circulates? You can SD & repeat this in about 5 min but same results? Suspect something is protecting system from LP or HP ????? It ran in A/C ok a month ago?????

SOURCE: rheem power vent water heater shut down due to toxic vapour

Are you getting an error code? I could just be the pressure switch on the unit not allowing it to come on. You can try removing the hose from the inducer and blowing into and drawing air in and out of the tube. You will hear a clicking noise when you do this. Reattach the hose and try the system. Also, you have to unplug the unit for at least 10 minutes and then plug it back in to reset the controls. If the "Guardian" system still senses the fumes, it will not allow the unit to kick on. I could be awhile for the fumes to disapate before it will work. Try putting a low volume fan on the base of the unit to try and keep fresh air moving around the "Guardian" sensor.

SOURCE: warm water only

You can eliminate the shower control knob possibility by turning on your hot water anywhere else in the house. If you get hot water in other places, then it could be the knob causing it. A substantial lime buildup in the tank can also cause poor heat transfer from the elements to the water.

SOURCE: richman gas lp tankless hot water heater. used for

I had the same problem with my Paloma a year and a half after installation...contacted Rheem\Paloma\Richman customer service (800-432-8373) and they recommened a local installer in my area. The technican diagnosed the problem as the "flow control valve"; he managed to get Rheem/Paloma to cover the part under warranty...I only had to shell out the money for the install.

I have a Rheem Power Vent2 when I turn on shower hot has pressure but after it runs few mins losing hot water pressure runs slower would it be that bladder tank or do I need to replace water heater

If cold water has good pressure, and you are not on a well ,try turning water Off to water heater, open tap to relieve pressure remove hot side left water line to heater stick long screw driver inside pipe going inside water ,the heat trap is sticking it's rubber flap inside the pipe going in water heater.

If I run out of propane, do I need to unplug the hot water until I get gas? Also, how do I get it started again once gas is restored? i have a Rheem PowerVent unit.

There is no pilot light on your power vented hot water heater. You may as well unplug it because the induction fan will continue to run. Hopefully your propane company is responsible enough to perform a gas leak check on your propane system. After the gas is turned back on, you can plug in your water heater to start it up. Run-outs are costly so it's bet to get on automatic delivery or call when the tank is down to 30%

Disconnected condensation drain on hot water heater.

Tankless or hybrid water heater?

Tankless gas must have special fitting between water heater and vent that has a condensate line fitting. Hot toxic vent gasses traveling up vent pipe cause acidic water vapor to form inside vent pipe that drips back down vent and drips onto heat exchanger and other parts eventually burning hole through expensive metal alloy heat exchanger, rendering tankless computer water heater useless after electric circuitry gets wet and shorts out.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Rheem-Tankless-water-heater.html#vent

Hybrid or heat pump type computer water heaters must have condensate drain connected to catch pan located just above storage tank and below compressor. Condensation can form on condenser coils and drip into catch pan where there is primary and secondary drain

sample manual for power vent series:
http://globalimageserver.com/fetchDocument.aspx?id=c0471d58-5e59-4be6-96f7-68361b8fb515

Manual has troubleshoot section:
If this is combustion-shut-off or FVIR or flammable vapor event, then manual says to call qualified technician.
Service call is certainly less expensive than any fire or injury caused by fire.
Other brands of water heater, for example Bradford White, have customer-resettable FVIR on some models.

Another thing that can be causing problems is air intake, especially in dirty environment like a shop, or if shop chemicals are being inhaled by burner. Burner parts are susceptible to chemicals in trace amounts below odor threshold. You might need fresh air intake for water heater, and air intake needs to be cleaned.

'System lockout' shows on troubleshoot page 32:
1. Gas supply is off or too low to operate.
2. Hot surface ignitor not positioned correctly.
3. Low voltage to the water heater.
4. Electric polarity to unit is incorrect - test and correct.
5. Combustion shut-off device tripped, contact service
agency.
