Model JVM1630WB004. KW 1.58. 10 years old. No problems till now. Just stopped heating. Some burnt smell. Vented to outside thru duct. Everything clean. Is it fried? Also, cu. is not listed. What...

Check the door safety interlock safety switches for proper operation. If the switches are faulty, you can replace them. If you smelled something burning and it wasn't dinner, it could be the capacitor. You should have this dangerous electrical device serviced by a pro. The capacitor potentially stores up to 25,000 volts and may be lethal. The Cap is the silver can looking device inside with two or three wires on it. Expect to pay up to $150.00 for repair. Your machine is 10 years old, you may just want to replace it.

My GE Microwave model #jes1384sf04 suddenly stopped heating - can you help?

Remove all the screws, remove the exterior shell casing, remove the magnetron, and take it to the appliance store to match up a replacement. Install magnetron and your back in business, but make sure you discharge the capacitor before you start tinkering around inside or it will shock the hell out of you.

GE Spacemaker XL1800 does not heat. All other functions appear to be working normally, the light comes on and the turntable functions. When turned on, it makes a humming noise slightly louder than normal,...

Possible bad heating element, You should remove the cover of the unit and look at the heating element with the power off. Until you get your problem resolved I would recommend not to even turn it on due to the fact that you are unsure what is going on and you smelt some burnt smell. Just for safety until you fine the problem

Microwave turntable won't turn

Most likely the turntable motor itself is bad - not an uncommon problem for that model.

Check with www.martinmicrowave.com (toll free 1-877-894-0035)

unfortunately, the particular motor used in your model is rather expensive - + - $50

GE Spacemaker microwave won't heat food

hello kmwnky,
You say that Everything went out at first ( which I assume means that all functions went dead) and then functions started to operate again later... if that is correct and you smelled something burning.. you may have a thermal fuse that failed, filament transformer that failed, magnetron tube that failed or a highvoltage capacitor that failed.. None of these components are something the untrained person should attempt to trouble shoot or replace since there are dangerous energies stored inside the electronics compartment even after power is removed.. Your Micro is > 8 years old and it's probably not worth the cost of repairing at this point. You'd be better served replacing it.. The cost to repair would exceed the cost to replace.. ( I feel like the grim reaper here..sorry..)
Regards,
Rick

GE Spacesaver JVM 1651 Not heating, making burning smell

Fisrt, check to be sure your missing cat it not inside the unit. IF the interior is dirty (splatters, grease, etc.) , it may inhibit the unit from working properly.
