I need Video card for my Sony Vaio PCG-8112L Video Card. Is it built in Mother Board.Is SONY VAIO PCG-8112L and SONY VGN AR-825E mother boards are same. Please help. [email protected]

From the looks of things after searching Google, it looks like Sony has admitted that there is a factory issue with that laptop and that video board. Contact Sony for a factory repair.

Based on what you have presented...
1 long 2 short - (Video Controller Failure or faulty add-on card

Do you have an installed video card? Does the unit have a built in Card? (In other words part of the mother board?)

If you have an installed card check that it is not loose... If it is still not functioning (and)

If your unit also has a built in video card that is disabled... go to the BIOS and enable it... see if your unit will boot up...

If the video card is not loose and you do not have a built in card... you may want to see if you know someone with an extra card to loan... or purchase a new one....

OK... TRY to start your SONY with the batter removed... will it start? If it does, buy a new battery and DON'T run your Sony for very long without one!

Your Power Supply may have failed so suspect that first. They are about $11 or so including shipping. See the link below.

Now a new BATTERY is much more expensive starting around $27 and up ~ so I would try a new supply first! Also some shippers are getting stinky about battery shipments too so that may have added to costs?

Surprisingly, mother boards don't just up and fail... Usually some connections like USB or audio functions fail first... so try to think of a bad mother board last. On desktops if your "on board", "mother board provided" audio/Network/WiFi/USB fails... it's a snap to plug in a replacement card to get them working again!

NOT so easy on a laptop.

Hi, you mostly likely lose your driver for your microphone. Unfortunately, Sony doesn't seem to support windows 7 for your computer, only Vista, or at least the drivers for 7 is not on their site. What you could do is Google search you sound card, microphone, and mother board type and see if your can find a third party copies of working drivers for your computer. My Mind is telling me there are more things may not be working on your computer as before. Are they?

Or you may reply to this with the type of sound card and mother board and microphone hardware your computer has and I will try to find it for you.

Or better yet contact Sony, -- I am sure your paid lot of $$$$ for the computer.
