SOURCE: Refrigerator Not Making Ice, Frost in Freezer and Refrigerator Not Cold

It has a defrost problem.  Most likely cause would be the defrost thermostat which clips onto the evaporator behind the back panel in the freezer.  Next most common would be the defrost timer.  Third would be the defrost heater.  Let me know if you want to try to test these parts.  If so I will need the entire model # from the sticker in the fridge or on older models on a plate at the bottom front below the door.

SOURCE: Frost buildup

It is not defrosting.  You have to remove back wall of freezer where frost is and take hairdryer to melt away frost.  You need to check defrost heater.  This is on bottom of evaporator coils.  It has wires going to it on both sides.  This has to be checked for continuity.  If ok on top of coils is a round unit called a defrost terminator.  This needs to be checked for continuity also.  This must be done before you defrost coils.  It should have continuity when its cold.
If these are ok you probably have a bad timer or defrost board.

SOURCE: I have a Kenmore coldspot side by side- not cooling properly

Setting it to 5 is what the manufacturer recommends. If you set it to 1 and the frig is still not cold, then you probably have a faulty cold control (thermostat)

SOURCE: Kenmore side by side is not getting cold or freezing

If the refrigerator isn't cool, you need to answer some questions, then see if the compressor is running.
First, answer these questions:
Is the refrigerator completely dead?
If so, see “It's stopped completely.”

The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help.

If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these:
The compressor
The Thermostat
The overload, relay, or capacitor
The defrost timer
The condenser fan motor

The freezer and the fridge are cooled by the same system, air is moved to the fridge by a fan from the freezer, either the circulation fan is defective or the fridge thermostat is defective.

Refrigerator side of this side by side is not getting cold enough

The frost is on the back wall of the freezer causing poor air flow to the rest of the unit. If you remove the back wall inside the freezer you will find the ice burg that sank the titanic. Using a hair dryer you will need to defrost all of the ice off the evaporator coils. There are 3 things that will cause this, Defrost timer, defrost t-stat or the defrost heater. Usually it is t-stat or heater. Good luck and hope this helps.

My kenmore refrigerator side by side

Sounds like it has a defrost problem.  Check for thick frost buildup on the back bottom panel in the freezer first and let me know what you find so I can steer you in the right direction.  Also, give me the entire model # from the sticker inside fridge.
