How do I Know If The oil pressure switch is leaking oil with out removing the Intake manifold on a 2010 Hyunda Santa Fe 3.5L?

  1. locate the oil pressure switch: The oil pressure switch is usually located near the oil filter or on the engine block, close to the oil pressure gauge sender.
  2. Check for oil leaks: Look for any visible oil leaks around the oil pressure switch and its connecting hose. If you see any oil leaks, it could indicate a faulty oil pressure switch.
  3. Check the oil level: Check the oil level in the engine and look for any signs of a decrease in oil level, which could be a sign of an oil leak.
  4. Listen for any unusual noises: If you hear any unusual noises coming from the engine, such as a hissing or whistling sound, it could indicate a leak in the oil pressure switch.
  5. Monitor the oil pressure gauge: If the oil pressure gauge is reading low or fluctuating, it could also indicate a problem with the oil pressure switch.
If you suspect that the oil pressure switch is leaking oil, it is best to have the vehicle inspected by a certified mechanic or a Hyundai dealership

Pt cruiser is using a quart of oil every 100 miles

Should be a leaking oil pressure switch.
First, check to oil filter, area to see if the oil is obviously coming out around the filter. Filter and area around it should be dry,.
There has been rare instance of the "o-ring" on the top of the oil filter sticking to the engine when the filter was changed, and the new oil filter then won't seal because there are now 2 gaskets between the filter and the engine block.
Check the engine drain plug. Is it loose or stripped? That area should also be clean and dry.
The valve cover gasket should be clean and dry all the way around.
Most common cause for that much oil use is the oil pressure switch, should be leaking with the motor running.

97' Honda Accord is leaking oil around where the oil filter is located. there is no extra gasket there.

Above the oil filter is the oil-pressure switch for the light in the cluster. That's a sorta-common source of leaking. Oil leaks directly through the defective switch, coming out around the rubber boot where the wire attaches. You didn't state what size engine you have so I will send you a link to both engines that is listed for the 97 model. Whats the purpose of an oil pressure switch can it determine weather oil leaks from your grand prix or not?

The oil pressure switch or sending unit is a unit that receives an electrical signal showing what your cars oil pressure is.And yes it does partially does let you know when there is a problem somewhere in the oil system. For example if your filter gets clogged up your oil pressure will go down and then go up when you accelerate. If there was a leak in the system first you would probably see the leak And if the oil pump or oil pump shaft were to break you would have no oil pressure. So you can see the importance of having an oil pressure switch.I feel there are 2 guages that are important to watch are your oil guage and water temp guage they can tell you allot about how your car is operating.

Oil leaking from some sort of plug above the oil filter

If the leak is coming directly from above the oil filter it is more than likely the oil pressure switch is leaking. The seal around the Oil pressure switch could have gone bad and now it is leaking.

The oil pressure switch is located right above the the oil filter and above the cooling system cross pipe.
