I have a motorola straightalk xt555c and when i put it on charger nothing happens, but the charger works on other phone

I removed the battery, reinstalled it, and the phone turned right back on. He's had problems with the phone locking up before too and had to do the same thing. That is what we get for buying the free phone... Then again my blackberry does the same thing, maybe it is just Verizon.
