Water coming out of shower and faucet at the same time. It is a three handle set up, hot, cold, center diverter. I replaced the diverter stem and seat. When I turn the diverter handle to shower, water still comes out of the faucet. When I turn the diverter to faucet, no water comes out of the shower, ??

SOURCE: No cold water, Only hot water in showers.

The plumbers screwed up when they installed your showers. There are two connections on each shower. one for hot and one for cold. they connected the two hot water lines together with a T fitting and then ran a line to the main hot water line and tied it in. Then they connected the two cold water fittings with a T and ran that line to the main hot water line and tied it in there instead of into a cold water line like they were suppose to. This is the only possible logical solution to this problem. They tied your cold water connections to both showers into a hot water line instead of a cold water line.

SOURCE: I have Danze, single handle

Replace valve canister- no construction- just remove after taking time to shut off water- a few screws and the job takes 15 minutes. I take for granted you have good water hot/cold to the fixture. This fix will cure most temperature balance problems.
The single lever system is a EZ care system. Note the canister can malfunction faster when exposed to untreated hard water.

I'm not sure what brands my faucet or handles are.

You can remove the center (Diverter valve) without turning water off, Will need deep well socket. Check the o rings and or washers and replace or take valve to Home depot to match with new. If you can't find one there go to local plumbing supply or ace. I turn hot then cold on and off real Quick while the valve is out just to clear anything that might be in lines. stand to the side or you will get wet! You might want to get new hot and cold valves while your at it just make sure to turn off water at meter before you remove them.

When water is turned on, water leaks from faucet and hot/cold water handles but when diverter is engaged the shower works fine with no leaking from the handles or faucet. I have a three handle system. Any...

Write down the type and model of faucet you have. Most hardware stores have rebuild kits for faucets.( washers, rubber o-rings and or gaskets) You will have to turn your water off and do some minor repairs.
The kits come with step by step directions.

No hoy water coming out on Moen shower faucet?

If you have hot water elswhere in the bathroom but not the shower head then the diverter valve in the handle for the tub is most likely bad and needs replaced. The diverter is also called an anti scauld valve, it mixes the hot and cold water to prevent scaulding you in the shower

Middle valves not sending the water to shower head

the diverter screw has come loose in the diverter stem. It is the center knob that turns on
the shower. If it is american standard, they were noted for this. You may want to shut off
water to the shower itself at the shutoffs but USUALLY not necessary as long as you dont
bump the hot/cold knobs while removing the diverter stem.

Remove the cover and or screw from the handle and remove it.
then remove the decorative escutcheon cover and tube by unscrewing
it counterclockwise.
(There may be a small set screw on the underside of the cover to loosen)

The stem unscrews counter clockwise as well and may take a small pipe wrench to loosen
Sometimes the screw becomes lodged in behind the seat and requires patience and a
pick to extract it (a short burst of water may eject it into the tub). Sometimes part of
the stem body becomes lodged in the manifold but can be removed with an internal pipe
wrench set (home depot carries them for about 12 dollars).

Replaced shower valve. still drips from tub spout

The cartridge has 2 or 3 o-ring type seals around it that feed the water through, it picks up both hot and cold and mixes them. Some cartridges are replaced as one, some you have to replace the seals, just take the faucet info to the hardware store and match it up. I think the diverter is for the shower. It sends the water up instead of out.

I have a older Delta shower head/tub combination with scald protection. It leaks from the tub diverter. Where should I start?

I'm assuming that you have a three handle faucet. You need to remove the diverter from the faucet body and while your at it remove the hot and cold stems from the valve body (the parts are inexpensive). Remove the seats inside of the valve body towards the back, replace with new ones. If stems are in good shape, just the washers and seats need to be replaces. If the brass on the diverter or on the hot or cold stems is pitted or marred, then replace the whole thing. The parts should be readily available at most plumbing supply places.

My 3 handle bathtub fauset [price pfisher] cycles hot and cold

You will need to either replace center "shower diverter"assembly or a quicker fix would be to remove old tub water fill spout and replace with a "pull up diverter knob" type water spout. Cost about 10 dollars Hdepot Pull Knob to divert water to shower when showering.
