That one is a "Global Problem"
You see, greed has gotten in to society and we now prefer to make cheap crap and throw it away. I suggest find a retailer who doesn\'t scream at you how much you can save this weekend. Then ask them which one might last "the distance", also does that brand have a reliable repairer locally?

My Samsung fridge is showing a plug in sign on the display...though the cooling is normal

If your Samsung fridge is showing a plug-in sign on the display, it usually indicates that the refrigerator is not detecting a power source. However, if the cooling is normal, it is likely a display error.
To clear the display error and restore normal settings on your Samsung fridge, you can try the following steps:
  1. Unplug the fridge from the power source and wait for at least 30 seconds.
  2. Plug the fridge back into the power source and check if the error message has disappeared.
  3. If the error message is still there, try resetting the fridge by pressing and holding the power freeze and power cool buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds. This should reset the display and restore normal settings.
If the error message persists despite trying the above steps, it might be an indication of a more serious problem with the fridge. In such cases, it's best to contact Samsung customer support or a certified technician to diagnose and fix the issue.

Is there a way to stop unit from going into demo mode when power outage?

Samsung goes into demo mode every time the power goes out and comes back on.

so I guess I'm screwed if I am out of town and come home to a warm refrigerator full of rotted food.

The lesson is to never never never buy a Samsung refrigerator.

Samsung refrigerator has a 33e code flashing

That sounds like a power glitch. Try pressing and holding the power freeze and power cool buttons at the same time for about 8 to 13 seconds and see if it clears.

If that doesn't do it, let me know and I'll dig up the Fast Track on it.

Samsung model RS2577SL

That just worked for me too. Hold the power freeze and power cool buttons down at the same time and it will reset it after a power surge. All I had working was a light inside the door and a blinking green light on the display panel.
