Netgear DG836GT Problem install router all connected except MSN live messenger. Found problem was in my firmware. Downloaded firmware dg836gt_1_02_09.img to correct this problem. Now can not get the frimware installed inside the router. What do I need to do to make this work. With current version of firmware router is very slow in connecting and disconnects all the time. Know this is a known problem with this router and they say to install this frimware version inside to correct this problem. Please help how do or can I install this version of firmware to correct my problem Thank you so much for your answer

OK. First, that dg836gt_1_02_09.img file does not seem to be a firmware file. You need to get a .zip file or a .bin file to upgrade the firmware. Check Netgear's website for the current firmware. If it is a .zip file, then you need to extract the .bin file from the .zip file with winzip software. Then, log into your router with Internet Explorer by typing it the routers IP address in the address bar like this http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. Enter user name and password. Look for a tab that states software update. Browse for the .bin file you downloaded or extracted from the .zip and click update.

How to configure Netgear WGT624 v3 router with Globe Broadband Huawei B200...
1. You have to reset your router to its original factory configuration by using the reset button at the back of the router (WGT624 v3) near the antenna. 2. Connect the cable from the Globe Broadband Huawei B200 modem to the wan port of the router. 3. Connect another cable (RJ45) from the router (any Lan port on the router) to the laptop or desktop. 4. Switch on both device (modem and router). 5. Wait till both device boot up and the modem flash a blue, green and yellow color on its led and solid green to all router indicator led except the test led indicator flashing for a few seconds only.
6. Open your browser (e.g. Mozilla Firefox, Safari...) 7. Type http://192.168.1.1 at the address bar. 8. Netgear setup website will open. 9. Go to advance settings. 10. Go to back up menu and click erase to reset your router to its original factory settings. 11. Logout. 12. Switch off the device (modem and router). 13. Remove the cable connecting the computer and the Lan port of the router. 14. Connect the modem directly to the laptop using the cable. 15. Open a browser. 16. Go to the netgear website. 17. Go to the Support menu on the Netgear Website. 18. Type the model of the modem (WGT624 v3) on the blank space provided (Find your product). 19. Go to Downloads. 20. Download WGT624v3 Firmware Version 2.0.26_1.01 NA. 21. Read the instruction how to download the firmware and how to upgrade your router to the new firmware. 22. Save the downloaded firmware. 23. Exit the Netgear Website. 24. Switch off the modem. 25. Now follow the instructions #2 to #8. 26. Go to "Upgrade the Router" menu. 27. Upload the downloaded firmware to the router. 28. After uploading the firmware go to the Basic Settings Menu or use the Smart Wizard Menu to configure your Router.(Important Updates: Lan IP Address will be changed automatically to 10.0.0.1). Automatic internet connections will be tested by the network. 29. Configure your wireless settings. Logout. 30. Reboot all the devices and the laptop/desktop. 31. Follow the sequence when rebooting. (modem-router-laptop/desktop). 32. Open a browser and browse any website. 33. Enjoy.

Possible solution

  • The most likely cause for this problem is that your firewall does not allow MSN Messenger to access the Internet. This happens often if you install a new version of Messenger. Make sure MSN Messenger is allowed access in your firewall rules.
  • This error might also be occuring because there is a proxy server enabled in MSN Messenger while you do not use one. To remove the proxy settings, click the "Tools" menu and then "Options..." at your MSN Messenger main window. Then in the options screen click "Connection" in the list to the left. Next, click the "Advanced Settings..." button. You can try and uncheck all checkboxes in this screen except the one labeled "TCP" to let MSN Messenger connect through a direct connection. If that does not work you can restore the settings again by checking the boxes you unchecked before.

You may need to upgrade your Router Firmware. Try going to the Netgear site http://kb.netgear.com/app/products/family/a_id/1297 and select your exact model. Version number is located on the sticker under the Router. Under the downloads section of your model, is a Firmware download. Download the latest version for installation. BE SURE that you connect your computer and router with a Network cable when upgrading the Firmware. DO NOT upgrade firmware over Wireless connection of you could fry the device. To login into the router console click http://192.168.0.1 and enter admin as the username, and password as the password. You will see an upgrade firmware section, point to the new Firmware file you have downloaded and follow the on screen prompts. You will need to setup your SSID and Encryption Password after the upgrade. Netgear Support will walk you through this these steps if you are uncomfortable performing them. I download the new msn messenger from the msn home page , so i know its a legit msn 9 , but after i downloaded it, and try'd installing it , it got 51 % done then stopped, it look like it's still...

My belkin54g router will connect to the internet fine and will browse the web but when i connect to MSN messenger it keeps booting me off of it and when i browse videos on Youtube they only download part...
Try to reset the factory settings on your Belkin54g Router, to make sure also that the Router is working is open the firmware on it. And setting up your internet connection properly. Good luck!

When i am on msn and want to put on webcam a message appears in a conversation saying Messenger is not available right now. Please try again later. (0x8ac70202)
This might be a compatibility problem between your webcam drivers with the new Windows Live Messenger program. You may want to:

1. Update your webcam drivers and see if Windows Live Messenger can detect it when you run the Audio Video setup from its Tools menu.

2. Or you can downgrade back to the older version of Windows Live Messenger which is compatible for your camera. Doing this however also requires that you uninstall all the Windows Live Beta products from your computer.

Note: You will not see a separate Windows Live Messenger on your Add/Remove programs, instead you will either see there Windows Live Beta products or Windows Live Essentials.

i had da same problem i went to google and i didnt find any way so i start finding it my way ..IF msn is not responding after 3 seconds when you signin...And if you did system restore dat what had happened to me ... i ve the answer... Go to Control panel> firewall>exception> .... IF YOU VE MORE DAN TWO WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER CHECKED..here is da mistake ...just uncheck one and signin and see..IF its again not workin check the other one..
