Sony Rear Projection TV Model # KP 53N74

Never had a problem until recently-now I have color "bleeding" (especially whites or brights) and tint seems to be off- people look greenish. Have flash focused numerous times, using personal settings to adjust color, etc., but nothing seems to work. What do you suppose the problem is, and can I repair it myself?

I have a Sony KP-43T75 rear projection TV, circa 2000, I have the same problem as PennyA1, in that the colours seem to bleed a green hue, especially if there is a white background, flash focus does not help

I have had a similar issue with a Sony 52" circa 2001 tv. It was bad and then got better. The only problem now is that when I plug anything into the component 1-5 (but not 4) the screen is fuzzy. The DVD is plugged into 4 and it works fine. I tried plugging something else into that and it showed up in black and white. Very frustrating. Fancy TV if you only watch cable or a DVD. All other modes show up fuzzy. Sony recommended a tv repair place in St. Paul but they want around $400 just to look at it.

I am having trouble adjusting my colors for my kp 53s25 there seems to be a lot of yellow how can i solve this?

This TV has had a long life. Your picture is looking more yellow these days because the Blue picture tube is wearing out. Not saying the Green and Red tub are much better, but Blue tube is a major player in the picture brightness and white balance (the color of white which the TV reproduces). The cost involved wouldn't be justified. You should enjoy the balance of the TVs life; when it's time comes... have the new TV delivered and ask them recycle this one. Best wishes.

Sony KP-53V45 color issues

When ever a tube starts to short or is shorted set always will have over bearing drive lines then shut down like RED if it was bad, set would come on long enough for red lines across set then shut down this is the same with all 3 tubes. Also if you think it might be green tube disconnected green CRT board on neck of green tube if set comes on and plays then it is green tube do all 3 tube this way one at a time this will tell you if you have other problems.

Sony KP 53S65 53" rear projection TV contrast issue

While the root of the problem is likely the picture tubes aging, I'm sure it would benefit from a cleaning and adjusting. After the dust is cleaned from the lenses, the screen controls could likely be lowered to get the blacks you desire. An experienced tech would be able to do this for you.
