I have the LC-26D4U Sharp Aquos model tv. Everything has worked fine for the 18 months or so that I've had it but now it seems as if something is internally wrong with the speaker connection. When the TV first turns on I hear a popping sound come from the right speaker. The first time this happened I turned the TV on and off a few times and the problem fixed itself. Since then, however, I hear that popping sound (just from the right speaker) and I get no sound. When the sound did work, both the left and right speaker worked fine and I still only heard the popping sound from the right speaker. I have tried different connections (HDMI, component, regular video/audio cables) and still nothing. It is certainly something internal that is the problem and I was wondering if you have heard of this problem before and know of a solution or advice. I am out of warranty and do not want to pay a few hundred if this is something I can easily fix myself.
Thanks for any help.
I have a LC-26D4U and my sound went completely out so I called Sharp and they said that since I have no warranty left on it they couldn't do anything but refer me to someone who can fix it so I called and they said it would cost about $185 just to check it and fix it but if its the motherboard it would cost more so instead I figure I can just go buy a Home Theater System and it worked. I found that was a phillips and really good quality at Target for $173.00 and you can check out walmart also. They had some cheaper ones but they weren't in stock so I spent like 20 bucks more and went to target. I can't afford a new tv and I love mine so thats what I did instead.
If you had sound from the onboard speakers before and lost it (without changing any settings), then try the main resets in the back by the a/v in and out jacks. If this does not work, call Sharp Customer Service (1-800-237-4277) and tell them that you already did the resets. There is a known problem with a heat dissipation pad for the onboard speakers and they will send a repair tech to replace the pad for free, even if you are out of warranty. At least that was the case with my LC-32D6U.
What I would do.
