SOURCE: Samsung YP-U3 MP3 Player Problem connection

Found the solution on another site (http://www.everythingusb.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=11238). To quote user AFHavemann :

"* Plug in the player so the USB bus can see it.

* Once it’s recognized (i.e., the device screen reads "Charging" and "USB Disconnected"), go to the Control Panel and click "System"

* Choose "Hardware" then "Device Manager" tab.

* Look for the name of your device under “Portable Devices” in the list

* If the name of your player is under “MTP Device” then the correct drivers are probably loaded

* Right-click on the name of your device and click "Properties"

* Click “Update Driver”"

Then follow the prompts from there. The computer searches for the driver software, etc., and reinstalls/resets information related to the device, which fixed things such that the computer will now recognize the device. I'm not sure what causes the problem, but this solution seems to reset whatever's gone wrong.

SOURCE: disconnected samsung mp3 player

Gday...the most likely issue concerning the "USB Disconnected" message on the U3 is that the device has installed itself with incorrect drivers. If this is the case then following these steps should rectify your problem...

1) Plug the MP3 player into the USB port
2) Open up Device Manager (Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager)
3) Find Samsung UP-Y3 in the list (should be under "Other" or "Portable devices" with a ? next to it)
4) Right click on this and select Uninstall
5) Remove the player from the USB port and plug it back in

Windows should automatically detect the device and install it's own drivers. If not, and you have a driver disk, then just install the Samsung drivers. You should now be abe able to drag and drop files onto the player using Windows Explorer. Hope this solves the issue.

Cheers,
Scott

SOURCE: Samsung YP-K3 mp3 player requires driver but I have no cd!!

I've had this problem. Windows media player doesn't seem to find it, and I couldn't figure out which file I needed from the site. I have xp, but I'm assuming this might also work for vista. Go to Control Panel. Open System. Click the Hardware tab. Click the Device manager button. Find the yellow question mark labled Samsung YP-K3 and doubble click it. This should open a window that will let you (re)install the driver, which it will find for you after having you set up a few simple options. Hope this helps.

Use a toothpick to clean out the lint in the usb connector. If you use the mp3 player a lot without the cap lint will build up and cause misalignment when plugging it in the pc.

My Samsung YP-S2 Mp3 player can't be recognised by computers when I plug it in through the usb input (it used to work), therefore I'm not able to upload music on it anymore. How can I fix this bug?

Samsung Player Is No Longer Detected By Windows XP, Vista, Emodio Or
    Samsung Media Studio.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When your computer doesn't recognize your Samsung MP3 player, programs
such as Samsung Media Studio (SMS), Emodio, Windows Media Player
(10 or 11) do not allow you to transfer files to your player.
In SMS and Emodio, the portable icon appears grayed out.
In Windows Media Player, you are prompted to connect a device.
Your PC may fail to recognize your player for a variety of reasons.
To begin troubleshooting, scroll down, and then click the operating
system your computer is currently running.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    General Operating System Information
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Windows computers, Samsung MP3 players require at least Windows XP
Service Pack 2. If you have an older operating system such as Windows
2000 or Windows 98, your computer won't recognize your player until you
upgrade your PC to at least Windows XP Service Pack 2.
If your PC is running Linux or MAC, it will not recognize some MP3
players that support only MTP mode. However, it will recognize players
that support UMS mode and list them as mass storage devices.
The following Samsung MP3 players support UMS: YP-U1, YP-U2, YP-U3,
    YP-U4, YP-U5, and YP-S2.
The following Samsung MP3 players support both MTP and UMS mode: YP-Z5
    and YP-P3.
Windows Vista may fail to detect you device if the player is not
connected properly, Windows Media Player is not installed or has become
corrupted, Vista is unable to install the MTP drivers, or the MTP patch
    is not installed.
You can check it out further by going to this website and entering the information about your player

I have a samsung yp-u2 mp3 player, but dont have the software to install or remove music on the mp3 player. I have tried the download.com and also samsung site, they dont have it either.

You don't need that actually. The computer will just recognized this as removable drive. Open up My Computer then plug the device on USB port, then it will pop up as removable/additional drive. Explore, then goto folder or file folder usually MUSIC folder or where you put the music files.

You can drag and drop MP3 files and delete it. Software dismount it and take off and you are ready to play it.

    Hope this helps you.

I can'y delete the folders on my Samsung YP-T9J

On my YP-T9 I choose format and it deletes everything. Of course, I don't use it for pictures, videos, etc. You can format it either with WMP, Samsung Media Studio, or Windows Explorer. Only takes a couple minutes -- in fact, it's a lot faster than deleting the songs via WMP Sync.
