HP 6310 - paper misfeeds and bunches up to one side when feeding into printer, causing paperjam. I tried cleaning the rollers, with poor results. Thanks for any help.

Thanks, but as indicated in my e-mail I was able to resolve the problem on my own. After unplugging the printer I cleaned the rollers front and back (I had previously cleared the jam), turned the printer on and it worked. I really do appreciate the response and have kept the Fixya suggestions for the next time. Thanks again.

Sounds like rollers are worn or damaged. How old is printer?

Please try these steps

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

My dell 2350 dn feeds to much paper causing jam

Step 1: Try fanning the paper at the feed edge before placing it in.
Step 2: Ensure that the paper is placed in with the edge curl up. When holding a bunch of paper between two fingers, the paper will naturally have a curl to it. It should be placed in "happy" (Edges up).
Step 3: Inside the printer's paper tray and where the feed mechanism is, locate the feed rollers and static feed pad. These will all be rubbery or "foam"-like. They should always be slightly tacky when rubbed against, however paper dust will eventually cause them to become slippery instead. Rubbing alcohol can be used to clean them with care and a Q-tip and recover the slightly rubbery, tacky feeling, thus resolving misfeeds.

Paper misfeed

When the paper does not feed straight, dirty or stickyrollers can cause it to jamb or crinkle, also failure to remove all traces ofpaper from a previous paper jamb will cause further paper jambs.
Check for tiny pieces of at the edges of the rollers, and remove these piecesof paper. The rollers may be dirty or sticky and causes the paper tonot feed straight.
Try cleaning the rollers with methylated spirits.

Our HP 4250N Laser Printer is leaving a black line approx 2 inches off left side of paper. Tried cleaning rollers and putting printer into clean mode. Nothing is working. Any advice? Thank you.

This is caused either by the fuser or the tonercartridge.

The most common cause is the tonercartridge.
You can test this by forcing a paperjam to stop the paper just after the toner but before the fuser.

To force a paper jam print you can print a page from the manual feed tray and as the last third of the page enters the printer opening the door causes it to halt.

If the black line is there before the toner is bonded to the paper by the fuser you should replace the tonercartridge..

The amber light with the triangle next to it is flashing please help!!!

That is the ATTENTION state. Four things can cause it to flash.
1) empty paper tray
2) door open
3) paper jam
4) misfeed from tray.
Press the GO button(the diamond). If it still doesn't work, check for a paperjam.. Also try printing from the manual feed tray.

Misfeed from the rear tray. The rear tray feed is not working. When it tries to feed it bends the right corner of the paper and then I get a misfeed message. I can't use the printer to print 4x6 photos...

there could be a teenie piece of paper stuck in the feed path causing this to happen, you have to visually inspect and ensure it is clear. Use plain paper to test.

rollers may also contribute to problems with feeding paper its good you tried that too.
lastly maybe the photo paper is too thick for that printer?

Misfeed on lanier 7320

I like your pictures.... Have you tried to clean the feed roller with a slittly damp rag with Simple Green or WD-40? You can try that and wipe the extra off. They both clean the rubber roller's. If that works good, that means the feed rollers are worn and need replacing. But you may also need the paper pick-up feed clutch. You said you can still run paper throw the by-pass. Good Luck

Hp 1210 paper will not feed

Hi ihimc1, over time dust and paper fibres can cause the rollers to stick, which can result in the paper not feeding please take these steps below to clean the rollers.
Turn off the all-in-one.Unplug the power cord from the back.Remove the rear access door. Clean the rollers one at a time using a clean cloth that is slightly dampened with water. Rotate the roller to clean the entire surface. Verify that the three paper feed rollers on the rear access door are clean and rotate freely.
Reinstall the rear access door and then plug the power cord back in.Turn the all-in-one back on.
