Stalls out I have a gas leaf blower and when i start it it idles and then when i pull the trigger it stalls out.

  • Anonymous May 04, 2009

leaf blower ----- starts and idles then stalls out on power up. This happened last fall. Now it starts on choke and when choke is turned off it goes to max speed and stalls. It will restart on choke but the same thing happens again.

I suspect the fuel filter is partly to mostly plugged, causing it to run too lean and stall out when choke is turned off.

This is usually caused by a stopped up muffler. Remove the muffler and see if this makes a difference. If it runs smoothly without the muffler then you must clean the "kook" out of it. This is done one of two ways. If you have a torch, even a portable handheld one, you can burn the muffler clean on the inside by removing it from the equipment, placing it on a burnproof surface and aiming the torch inside the muffler, letting it burn for 7 to 10 mins.
Also you can build a fire either outside if you live in an area this is allowed or in your fireplace if you have one, and just toss the muffler into the fire. This will remove the carbon buildup in the muffler, Just remember...LET THE MUFFLER COOL COMPLETELY ON IT'S OWN ...do NOT DIP IN WATER as this will warp it and it will no longer seal tightly to the engine. This should solve your problem.

Ryobi blower stalls

Not sure if your model has two throttles or one. It should have a trigger and a thumb lever. Be sure the thumb lever is closed. if that is not the problem your mixer might be to rich. it says 50:1, but use 40:1 and see if that helps

Engine stalls

I'd say the carb is clogged somewhere, probably the main jet. The gas today is terrible. Removal/replacement may be the (only) way to go.
