SOURCE: Zone 2

The above suggestion may be the cause of the problem. Zone 2 can only play analog, so if you have HDMI connection you cannot output to zone 2.

I resolved my own problem. This is a 7 channel system. Zone 2 needs 2 channels. In my case I bi-amped both front speakers (ran two speaker cables to each). So Zone 1 was using 7 channels, 5 speakers plus 2 added cables for fronts. Zone 2 could not work.

In set up 2 Speaker Settings, select first menu item then scroll to second option on this, change setting from bi-amp to Normal.

SOURCE: Onkyo Zone 2 Problem

Hi there

The only reference i could find to this in the manual is on page 55, in your hardware settings. It relates to the menu settings for remote control configuration/zone 2 activation. Do you have a user manual to help you here? Hit the link above and enter an email address and you can down load one. Good Luck, any dramas, feel free to comment back to me here and we can sort it out)

SOURCE: onkyo 805 zone 2 problem

I just figured out what I was doing wrong last night. On the 806 at least, when zone 2 is not powered (receiver is set to act) there is a separate volume control 'level' that is on the receiver a couple buttons right of the zone 2 button. By default this level appeared to be set to -50db. As soon as I turned up this level sound came out of my zone two.

I'm using an onkyo tx-nr609, I have a wireless speaker adaptor plugged into zone 2 on the back next to where the subwoofer plugs in, but can't seem to get any sound to come out of it. Any ideas?

Hi Chris, not all sources will play to zone 2. Only internal and analog sources. If you want to play your cable box for example you need an analog connection from the cable box to the receiver. Also, the output is very low it needs to be amplified. Thank you, Onkyo USA

We wired our new home to have outdoor speakers and also speakers to our pool room. Before putting the receiver back into place after wiring the back, we quickly touched a speaker's wires to the wires...

It's not really clear if all of this is Zone 2 or not, or if you intend a second program to play in Zone 2.

If your Zone 2 is to a powered amplifier and its speakers the Zone 2 output would be FIXED (not variable from the host TX-SR705), that is, at a level that the receiving amplifier would control.

Page 99 deals with it.

Having just passive speakers in Zone 2 requires you to set Zone 2 to "ACT(ive)".

Onkyo TX-SR605 cannot get Zone 2 to work on any setting other than FM Mode

Have you assigned the zone 2 configuration to the device that you want to play on zone 2?

This is part of zone 2 settings.

Otherwise the problem is with the amplifier circuit and will need replacement.

If the unit is not more than 3-5 years old , then depending on where you are there is a factory warranty.
Check with your Onkyo service centre before touching the unit.

My ONKYO TX-SR601 receive will not let me play my zone 2 speakers. I get a message saying '' Powered Zone 2 is not activated. How do I activate Zone 2? Thanks. Tom

Have just got a 607 myself, but it may apply to your model too.
Press the RECEIVER button followed by SETUP. On the TV screen a menu should appear and select SPEAKER SETUP then SPEAKER SETTINGS and set the powered Zone speakers to ACT.
SETUP will then return you to normal. Note: some other surround speakers will be switched off when ACT is on and ACT won't come on if Bi-amp is used.

Powered zone 2 is not activated onkyo txsr602

You have to make sure that you have activated zone2 in setup? It is defaulted as 7.1 Activating zone2 makes it 5.1 + 2 (make sense)
Also zone2 only outputs audio hooked up thru the analog connections

No. Active Equalization is required for the 901's and not to be used with any non-901 speakers.
