Rca compact stereo rs2657 cd door won't open

Don't think there's a cd in the 5 disc changer...the door won't open at all. what do i do?

    hi, i got the same kinda problem only that on mine there's no cd inside and door won't open or close. It doesn't seem to make any noise of trying either it's just silent and kinda froze i don't know. please if you know what's wrong with it e-mail me [email protected] or just post it here. i'l appreciate anybody who can help, thanks.

    My daughter put a cd in the empty slot while the cd from that slot was in the player. Now the door won't open and the machine is making moaning noises!

Mine was doing the same thing so I unplugged it and took the left side panel off to see what was wrong with it. I did this by removing the 2 screws on the left and the 3 on the back left side also.There was a cd stuck in it. It took some fenangling but I got it out and it works fine now. I know, I know. We as lay people are not supposed to do these things but it was out of warranty and would have cost me as much to have it repaired as to buy a new one. Good luck!

Problem with the cd changer on my RCA Total Power 5 disc changer system
Unfortunately, it sounds like the relay or motor to open the drawer is either stuck or dead, which can cause the entire system not to play the discs even if the drawer is closed. First, try calling RCA Customer Support to see if warranty service/exchange can be made for the unit. Second, try taking it back to where it was purchased. IF all else fails, You can disassemble the unit (this voids the warranty - do at your own risk) and try to identify the motor and drawer mechanism- try removing the main casing to your stereo (unplugged of course) and ensure that the small belts & gears that operate the drawer mechanism are all in good working order by gently operating them by hand. If not, you can replace or try a repair, but it honestly may be cheaper (and better for your sanilty) to buy a new system.

The cd door is stuck as if a cd is out of place. Won't open enough to see the problem.
Before, when trying to see the problem, I clicked "skip" to see if it would go through all the discs. It did, but still wouldn't open the door. Later, I clicked "play" each time, then "skip", and after going through all 5 discs, the door opened. Go figure.
