I too cannot get the door back on, it crashed to the ground when I unscrewed tow screws but didn't break, what a daft design, but if you don;t clean the inside door you cannot see anything so no point in having a light. Mine is UK60MFX1 Smeg electric oven

Go to the last couple of pages on the pdf...I found that the little notch on the bottom part of the hinge fitted on the outside edge of the slot - not as it appeared (to me) on an internal sort of bar. Looked at the smaller of the two ovens and its the same (doh! only made sence when I looked at the diagram!!)

Smoke come up from bottom of 3-month new smeg oven SA702X when try to heat up

Hi.

Smoke coming from the oven is not normal. Ensure that the smoke is not vapour coming from the food inside the oven.

If there is vapour coming from the hinge area, then ensure that door and hinges are installed properly.

If you get smoke from the oven, try cleaning the oven cavity, follow the instructions on manual to clean the oven.

If after cleaning the oven, there is still smoke coming from the bottom side, then call Smeg and have the oven replaced. There is one or two years warranty on the appliance.
Smeg support and service phone number is listed in the oven manual.

Regards.

Replaced hinge on smeg double oven but now oven doesn't heat

I have the SMEG F170-5 and had this problem after cleaning and replacing the door. It wouldn't heat unless I banged it shut. This action made the internal switch trigger, so I had to remove the oven (4 screws, slide out) and remove the right side panel (4 screws). The switch is actuated by the right hinge strut and it must have become bent slightly. I bent it a bit towards the door so that it would just a little bit more likely to make the switch trigger with the door closed and it now works fine.

HI I HAVE A SMEG OVEN MODEL NUMBER SA995XR I NEED THE INSTRUCTRION MANUAL JUST TO SEE HOW TO WORK THE SELF CLEANING OPTION THANKS

Hi I have just installed this oven SA995XR-5 yesterday and have the manual. It doesn't say anywhere it is self-cleaning, just good old elbow grease. Below is what is in the manual.

*I have a question for you. Does the cooling fan in your oven go all the time or does it stop some time after the oven has been turned off (which is what the manual indicates it is supposed to do)?

7.Cleaning and Maintenance
Before performing any operations requiring access to powere parts, switch off the power supply to the machine.
7.1 Cleaning stainless steel
To keep Stainless stell in good condition it should be cleaned regularly after use. Let it cool first.
7.1.1 Ordinary Daily Cleaning
To clean and preserve the stainless steel surfaces always use only specific products that do not contain abrasives or chlorine-based acids.
How to use: pour the product on a damp cloth and wipe the surface, rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth or deerskin.
7.1.2 Food stains or residues
Do not use metallic sponges or shapr scrapers: they will damage the surface.
Use normal non-abrasive products for steel and a wooden or plastic tool if necessary.
Do not allow residues of suraty foods (suc as jam) to set inside the oven. If left ot set for too long, they might damage the enamel lining of the oven.
7.2 Cleaning of the oven
To best oven upkeep clean regularly after having allowed to cool, Take out all removable parts
  • Clean the oven grill and side guides with hot water and non-abrasiev detergent, Rinse and dry.
  • The oven should be operated at the maximum temperature for about 15/20 minuytes after using specific products, to eliminate the residue deposited inside the oven.
  • For easier cleaning, the door can be removed.(8.2)
7.3 Door Glass
The door glass should always be kept clean. Use absorbent kitchen paper to clean. In case of tough spots, clean with a damp sponge using regular detergent.
8.2 Removing
Hold the door on both sides with both hands near hinges (A - there is a diagram showing this is the top hinge) and raise levers (B - this lever is a little arm attached to bottom hinge. Flick it up until it catches into groove on upper hinge. Its quite uncomplicated). Lift up the door forming an angle of about 45 degrees and remove. To refit, slide the hinges A in the grooves, drop door and release levers B.
8.3 Oven door seal
To permit thorough cleaning of the oven, the seal may be removed. Before the seal, take off the door as described above. Once the door has been taken off, left the tabs at the corners as shown in the figure.
After cleaning, refit the seal with the longer side horizontal and insert the tabs into the appropriate holes starting from the top ones.

Smeg se375mfx5 / stainless steel

i suspect you took the door off without locking the hinges
you will have to put the hinges in the lock position before putting back.
lay door on a blanket with hinges upwards. force the hinges back and bring the locking arm up to lock the hinges.
this requires considerable strength

Smeg Double Oven SD08

this can be hard to do as you should have locked the hinges with the door fully opened before taking it off. the hard part now is (with the door off) you have to push the spring loaded hinges down and lock them with small hook located on each hinge once locked the door will go back on the oven. you then open the door fully and unlock the hinges, good luck
