As far as the water not draining completely could be blockage inside the drain pip or near/around the pump place a deep tray under and see if you can disconnect the drain pip going to the pump and after and clean it. Try spin sycle without clothes to reduce the water hope that give you an idea and help god bless
2 things are possible. Can you tell if the spin cycle is engaging? If the spin cycle is not engaging properly or very fast, then the water will not leave the clothes. less likely is that the machine is not draining the water away properly or fast enough.
Check the shocks on the drum to make sure they are ok. if they wear out the drum spins out of balance and the computer wont allow it spine because it would WALK and damage itself.
Your transmission is starting to go bad. It is not creating enough power to spin the clothes fast enough to dry them. It is cheaper to look for a new washer . To fix the transmission will cost you over 400 I would do light loads until your able to get a new washer
does it drain out the water and spin but the clothes are still wet or is it not draining or spinning?set the timer to spin, open the lid and stick a screw driver into the lid switch hole and see if it spins and drains, also if it doesn't push down and let the switch up,or close the lid down and open it a little do this a few times, you should hear the switch make a clicking sound,if it doesn't click you have a bad lid switch.if the machine is draining and spinning but the clothes are wet,do the same thing with the lid switch and watch it spin with the lid open,is it spinning fast,if not you have a bad transmission and it's not spinning fast enough to remove the water out of the clothes or you could have a kink in the drain hose or something in the pump and it's not draining all the way.let me know what you find and send the model number off of the washer, the number should start with like 110.
The clothes are wet after spinningWhen the clothes are wet at the end of a cycle, check these:Motor couplerSpin cycleSiphoningWater-inlet valveMotor couplerTo test the motor coupler, re-start the washer in its spin cycle. Let the machine run for a minute, and then open the lid and notice whether the tub is spinning: If it's spinning when you lift the lid, the coupler is fine. If it isn't spinning--and your machine was produced by Whirlpool®--you may have a broken coupler. Many Whirlpool-made washers use a small, relatively inexpensive device called a motor coupling. This plastic-and-rubber component is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. When that happens, you need to replace it completely.Spin cycleIf the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag®), a worn clutch (GE®/Hotpoint®), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component. Alternatively, there could be clothes caught between the inner and outer tubs. Read the "It spins but won't pump" section of the "It won't drain" section. Also, there could be other things that cause friction on the drive train. Seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.SiphoningIf the water that pumps from the machine goes right back into the machine after the spin cycle, it may be because your washer is siphoning the water from a laundry tub with a slow drain, back into the washer. Try to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is there something stuck in the drain?) Also, be sure the drain hose doesn't reach more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub. If it does, cut off the excess.Water-inlet valveWater-inlet valves eventually fail. One problem that may develop with a water-inlet valve is that it can no longer completely shut off when the electricity is turned off to it. Then, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub--you may notice that your washer has water in it when you haven't used it for a few days. To fix this, replace the valve.
We have exact same washer. It is 11 years old. We are at a point where we have to spin it 7 times and then still isn't too dry. It dies yesterday a very loud death. Mentioning this here because it could be a foreshadowing of your Kenmore 90's future.
SOUNDS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT ALWAYS SHIFTING INTO HIGH SPEED MODE,TRY A MED. SIZE LOAD AND SEE WHAT THAT DOES,TRANSMISSION MIGHT JUST BE GETTING OLD WHIH IS NORMAL-MIKE
looks like you have a defective motor or a leaked load capacitor .....you need to get the motor rewired....or get a new motor for your washer..... have the capacitor checked....
but ya the issue is 1 of the 2....faulty cap/motor
First thing you need to check is the speed of the spin cycle. As long as you are not overloading the machine, it should spin the clothes pretty dry. the basket drive may need to be replaced. If it is spinning very fast, then check the drain hose, make sure the water is coming out nice and fast. If not you may have a water pump problem even lint clogged inside it.
Model 111, direct drive, the coupler spins but the Barrel does not?
