SOURCE: Maytag MLE 2000AYW: Doesn't spin
The Door Locked light is not activated by the door itself but by the wax motor inside the door latch assembly. The activation of the Door Locked light switch signals the control board to advance to the spin cycle and it is done by the wax motor by extending its shaft and pushing the switch contacts together. Advancing of the machine to the spin cycle when the switch is activated manually by the S hook simply tells that the wax motor (part number 12002535) has indeed failed and needs to be replaced.
Disconnect power then unstack the dryer from the top of the washer. Open the washer door and remove the four screws located
vertically along the
inside lip of the door opening. These screws hold the front panel to
the front shroud assembly.
Disengage the front panel posts from the clips located on the face of
the cabinet by grasping the upper part of the front panel posts and
pressing in on the outer edges then twisting it inward.
Once the front
panel posts are released from the cabinet, tilt the front panel away
from the cabinet and remove it.
Remove the two 5/16" hex-head
screws securing the two top cover hold down brackets; one on each side.
Swing the brackets to the outside and unhook it from the lip of the top
cover then lift the top cover to the rear if the machine.
The door latch assembly can now be accessed and replaced. Reassemble the machine in reverse order of the disassembly steps.

Hi Jahn 27 - I know you posted this solution awhile ago, but I'm hoping you'll see my question: Maytag Neptune stacked W/D unit Spin Enable/Door Lock Switches I have a Maytag Neptune stacked W/D unit MHS2000AWW, which no one seems to be able to find but it looks just like Model # MLG2000A, which is I think a later model To begin with, the drum would not spin at all - no tumbling backwards to try to readjust load - just a sliding sound as though it should spin but couldn't catch gear. I ran the machine with a paper clip bridging P3/1 to P3/7 on the control board. The result was perfect run through of cycles/ jet engine like, whisper quiet final spin. I then tested the spin enable switch with my meter (ohm) and it tested fine. After putting it back, I remembered reading that the switch is delicate and shouldn't be over screwed and worried I might have done that; so I switched the spin enable switch with the identical switch to the left of it (that runs the door lock light) then ran the machine through spin cycle again. This time, the machine kept initiating spin, starting to really gear up, then cut out. It did this again and again. It didn't sound as though it was rotating backward to rebalance. So - I turned it off, but noticed that the door lock light stayed on. I tried to open the door and it opened easily. I suspect that it hadn't locked and that the machine would have spun through but for the fact that the door hadn't locked. In looking at how the door light switch works I note that the door light is off when the button on the switch is compressed and comes on when its released. So it seems that some part of the door lock mechanism should be compressing the button when the machine is off/first turned on, then should slide off it causing the light to come on once the wax motor mechanism releases. The switch is fixed in place precisely by two screws and the button is not in contact with anything now. I did pull on the green, plastic, emergency release string a few times just to see how the door lock mechanism moves - could I have misalligned it by doing that? The only other thing I can think of is that maybe I reverse attached the two feeds to the switch? I don't think I did and am afraid to try reversing them now in case it would cause a short or something.

Looking at the video you posted re: wax motor replacement, can you tell me whether the assembly should hold the door lock light switch in the closed/compressed position when the door hasn't locked yet?
