I have a 60LN5710 LG Smart TV. I want to connect to the internet. I plugged in an LG AN-WF100 dongle. At first I couldn't find my AP. A few days later I found it and connected to internet, however I couldn't get any webpages to load, they would time out. Now another few days have passed and dongle doesn't locate AP. I've power-cycled the TV and router multiple times. Is this an issue with the dongle (one site said this was the dongle to use but the TV model isn't listed in the dongle's owner's manual) or is this an internet provider issue?

Hi,

Sometimes these types of issues are difficult to troubleshoot remotely (in this case, you've got 4 potential points to address: TV, dongle, router and ISP.)

If your TV and/or dongle utilize specific ports outside of the "norm," you may need to manually configure your router to allow for this.

Depending on the distance your AP/router is from the TV/dongle, the signal may not be strong enough. (Or, the signal coming from the AP may be present--you can confirm this with another wireless device--and maybe it's just the dongle itself has a poor range.)

Also, the dongle itself may be defective. Generally, there is some form of configuration that needs to be done, one way or the other, either on the computer, or on the TV itself (like a setup option).

Most likely, it's not an ISP-related issue.

Also, try to contact Sharp Technical support. They should be able to give you some recommendations that may prove helpful.

If all else fails, see if you can track down one of the dongles listed as being compatible in the TV manual, or find a dongle that's advertised as being compatible with your specific television, as that might be your best bet.

Good Luck!

SOURCE: lg 50pm4700 will not connet to the internet

I had a similiar problem and found a solution! :) im passing on my joy to you. Try getting a USB extension or just wrapping foil around the Dongle. It seems that the dongle or the TV causes interference of some sort to cause the tv to drop the internet. ON my tv it would say connected to the net sometimes but as soon as id try netcast it would drop. As soon as i got the extension it went away. At least try the foil thing. Wrap it like a Dog cone for injured dogs.

It sounds like the dongle has a problem. You should consider returning it for exchange or refund.

I found this page on amazon.com - scroll down to bottom to read reviews.. They say easy to install, and work great. One caveat, will not work with older model same tv.

Sounds like your router isn't set for DHCP. Try entering an IP address that isn't in use on your network. You'll find the IP address range in your routers settings. Either that, or set your router to DHCP. Hope this helps.

Matt

How do i connect my luxor tv to the internet wireless

As far as I know there is only one Luxor TV model that has Internet access (Smart TV) and it comes with a wireless adapter/dongle. Plug the dongle in the USB port of the TV set and follow the instructions in the user guide on how to set up a network connection. Usually, from your remote, go to Menu, Settings and then to Set Up Network Connection. Please be aware that you need to have a wireless modem/router for your home network in order to be able to connect your TV to the internet.

Hope this helps.

I purchased the lg an-wf100 dongle. It connects to my wifi but is asking for a manual ip entry. I have a 42lg5500 led tv. The manual/automatic field is frayed out, so is the DNS field.

The wireless control input on the back of the TV is not is not for a wireless adapter. It is used to connect a wireless media box, which you don't have. I have the same TV and use the wireless adapter. You want to plug your LG AN-WF100 into one of the USB ports on the left side of the TV.

If you operating system drivers are up to date and you are not using an old OS, the devices should work great. A lot has to do with the download speed also. Slow speed means Buffering and that is not good.
