The ECS PM800-M2 only supports SATA 1.0 hard drives. If you are using a newer SATA 3.0 hard drive, there is a jumper on the hard drive which has to be set to SATA 1.0 in order for the VIA 8237R chipset southbridge (which Is on your ECS PM800-M2) to recognize the newer SATA 3.0 hard drives. This Is applicable to all motherboards with the Viatech PM800 / 8237R chipsets. Note: the location for the SATA 1.0 / 3.0 jumper varies on each brand of hard drives. Also check If SATA Is enabled In the BIOS and select IDE mode.

There are 2 different types of SATA, Sata1 and Sata2. The PM-800 M2 does not support Sata2, so in order to connect a Sata Drive, you have to install a jumper on the Hard Drive jumper pins. Check you HD data for the proper setting.

Bios not detecting 320gb sata drive

Double check the jumper configuration, You might also want to check the cables and ports incase that's the problem because a properly jumpered SATA drive shouldn't have any compatibility issues. Also check if *********** board supports the SATA ? Let me know if this works..thanks. Mike

Sata hdd not detected

Yes, go into the bios and make sure that SATA is turned on. Sometimes with motherboards that have two ide controllers the SATA is turned off by default. Also another thing to check is whether the motherboard is SATA I or SATA II. If it is SATA I then change the jumper on the hard drive to peg back to SATA I. Your new hard drive is SATA II and the motherboard may not support it.

System can detect Fujitsu MHY2160BH : 160GB HDD, but cant install

it seems that your computer might have a SATA hard drive which could not be detectable by windows xp, try to install vista it will detect it easily.

otherwise use dm (disk manager) for detection and partition.

IF not than there is option in bios to detect the sata hdd please set it properly to detect sata hdd. it might be set to RAID or something else. and this will definitely solve your problem and you will be able to detect the sata HDD.
