WATER TANK CRACKED. IS IT DEFECTIVE?

most likely flush valve is worn or failed --or ball float cracked or porous need to look in tank and if valve no serviceable parts and easier to just replace

The fill tube may have a crack in it. I am referring to the plastic tube where the water runs in from a small rubber tube connected to the fill valve to refill the bowl after you flush it also serves as an overflow tube in case the water level gets too high. a crack will allow water from the tank to run into the bowl bypassing the flapper. checks this and replace if necessary. hope this helps.

f the toilet bowl overflows, use a plunger or auger to eliminate clogs. If the toilet does not flush, tighten or replace the defective handle , adjust or replace the lift chain , or replace the flush mechanism . Jiggling the handle forces the lift chain or rod to re-seat the flush mechanism, telling you that something is awry.

If the bowl drains sluggishly, remove the clog with a plunger or auger, or raise the water level in the tank .

If water runs continuously through the toilet, lower the water level in the tank , adjust or replace a lift chain or wire , repair or replace a worn flush valve , clean or replace the valve seat assembly .

If water appears under the tank, tighten the tank hold-down bolts , lower the water level in the tank, replace the float valve , replace a malfunctioning ball or tighten nuts on the water supply line, replace leaking supply line . As a last resort, re-seat the toilet .

If the seat is cracked or unsightly, replace it .

If the bowl or tank is cracked or otherwise unacceptable, replace the entire toilet .

Is all the water in the tank allowing the water into the bowl. This could be the problem, unless there is a blockage in the toilet itself as the water flushes out.

if its leaking from bottom of toilet on the floor. its the wax ring that may be bad, if it does this when flushing it is either cracked or the wax ring under toilet is bad.

You can find a replacement tank on the manufactures website. However, if it's not leaking or leaking very little you can cover the crack, on the inside of the tank, with an epoxy compound. There is a whole lot of pressure on the inside of a tank and typically when they crack it shows up as a very slow leak as the water seeps through the crack. When using the epoxy don't try to put it just in or on the crack. Seal an area a couple inches either side of the crack. These are usually hair line cracks and you won't necessarily be able to see the entire area of damage.

Check your over flow pipe in the tank to see if you need to lower the water level amount in the tank. If thats not it, it could be the seal thats under your flapper between the tank and base. Simple fix just alittle time consuming

It sounds like it is running constantly because of the leak. Where is the leak, at the bottom, around the plastic nuts underneath or is there a crack in the tank? Let me know.
