check the burner socket, it is likely that contact is being lost where the burner connects to the hardwired portion of the system (the socket). It is not unusual for the socket to "burn up" when there is a poor connection to the burner resulting in the burner being replaced and the new burner not working or working intermittently.

You probably have a 1940's model of Magic Chef. Check for the model number under the lid of the cook top on the upper right hand side of the stove. It should have the model number and the serial number, too. You will need both. The Old Applicance Club run by Jack Santoro is the place to go along with a site called "Antique gas stoves"in Georgia. I have a Kitchen Aid gas stove. All the burners will not light. No clicking, NOTHING. Is there a lighting switch or something that needs to be replaced ?? Or do I replace all 4 lighters ??

Soak the black stove caps in 1 part ammonia and 3 parts water. Let soak for several hours. I let it soak overnight. It should clean right up.
