I have a 2002 46 inch rca rear projection television and the picture is wider than the screen on each side. Is there a way to adjust this the menu doesn't have anything

Are you using a cable box? Do you have aspect settings on your remote? Comcast cable boxes have a hd zoom button. This will push the sides of the picture out

pop the speaker grill off, then take out the 1/4 inch screws and remove the screen, if it's behind the screen, simply brust it away, if it's between the 2 screens, then you must take them apart and remove the body. also while your in there, clean the lenses and mirror with some windex, this will greatly improve your picture.
You have a problem with convergence and all you may need to do is replace a fuse. Look up convergence for your tv model and hopefully you will get an answer as to where the fuse is located and how to replace it. Very common for RCA tv's
There is a service menu that techs can use to adjust vertical and horizontal widths. If it is not an aspect ratio problem then it is likely that it needs to be adjusted.
