Tv sound buzzing lamp

Just replaced the bulb (the new one did not come with screws for the lamp housing) and when I went to turn it on there was a lamp light (yellow and flashing) it eventually stopped flashing and I tried to turn it on, I heard something seemingly shatter and a loud humming noise coming from the bulb area. When I removed the bulb it seemed to be ok and in working order. What do I do? I love this tv and don't want to loose it... PLEASE PLEASE P L E A S E HELP ME

Testimonial: "^REALLY *****!?!^ THAT'S NO HELP! I did some more research and found it was the color wheel. Being as that its an older model (6 years old) it has been harder to find parts and even harder to find helpful videos but I have been able to remove the color wheel and am waiting to order a new one through shopjimmy.com I will follow up again with end results. Hopefully no more morons with a day off trying to get holiday pay from tech support put any idiotic posts."

SOURCE: wd-52531 has sound, then clicks off after few seconds

It can be the lamp. But the color wheel and ballast can cause the same thing. Put your ear to the back of the set when you push the power button and you should can here the color wheel start up. If not, that is your problem.

Now if the lamp is not lighting up. you should here a ticking sound from the back of the set, if not the ballast is bad. If the lamp is coming on and then going out after only about 5 seconds AND you do not here the start up of the color wheel, the color wheel is confeirmed bad.

Samsung HLR5667wx/xaa. Power surge took out tv. Replaced bulb and the bulb works, but tv wont come on and lamp light is flashing.

Hello, it sounds like the color wheel may have failed. Was there any noises, like a high pitch sound before it went out? If the color wheel isn't turning at proper speed, the set won't start up by shutting down the lamp protection circuit.

Standby lamp flashes red

Had the same issue today when I replaced the bulb with housing. Did you try to turn on the TV without attaching the housing door? That was my problem...tried to see if the new bulb worked without going through the motions of screwing on the door. I believe the housing contacts are not making a good contact. Try taking the housing out and reinstalling it firmly in place and definitely screw in the door firmly as well. Perhaps it will work then. Advise...

Samsung 50" DLP - Lamp Light Blinking after bulb replacement

Listen closely. The tv should make a high pitch whine as it turns on. If it does wait and see if it tries this a few times. If yes then check the bulb, I have seen cases where the lamp shoves the power connector back into the set. If the tv starts with a grown or heavy vibration noise, then your color wheel may have broken and needs replaced.

Problem with Toshiba DLP Projection TV Model #52HM84

It is possible the lamps may be defective or that they may be the wrong replacement for this model, as it may have a different wattage setup with the ballast. If you want to try to order the TB25 lamp from a different vendor, you can order the original Toshiba replacement lamp for this model (52HM84) from a major Toshiba parts distributor at the link below:

I can't seeem to find out how to put the new lamp back into the t.v

Hi,
if this is either of the 51" or 56" DLP tv's, it is very simple.
-Make sure tv is UNPLUGGED!
-Open the side compartment on left side of tv as you are facing it from the front.
-Take off the door and you will see the lamp housing. There are 2 screws facing you.Unscrew these and set the screws aside.
-Now pull on the housing a little and it should slide out.You may need to wiggle it a little.
-Set housing down on table or somewhere with good light.Make sure not to touch bulb of either the old lamp or new as oils from fingers can distort picture.
-Now,undo screws on shiny metal piece. There are 2.Take off metal housing piece.
-You now see the back of the bulb.If you look at the lamp from the front, you will notice where the 2 wires are fitted into a bracket with 2 screws.
-Unscrew those screws to loosen the bracket. The replacement lamp should have the exact same bracket. If not you can just undo the wires to the old lamp and connect the same wire harness to the new one.
-once the wire bracket is unscrewed, pull it out of its fitting and then unscrew the 4 screws holding the lamp in.
-Take notice of how the shiny metal clamp-fitting is situated to hold the lamp in place so you can put it back on the right way.
-Once loosened, the bulb should be able to come out and you can put the new one right in it's place. Make sure to keep the top wire connector on the bulb at about 11 o'clock and that a nub on the bulb fits through a spacer on the shiny metal clamp-fitting.
-Now tighten the 4 screws on the clamp-fitting and make sure the wire screw connectors on bulb are tight as well.
-Take the now loose rubber-covered wires and tighten them into the bracket-fitting the way the old ones were, with plugs and lamp facing the same way.
-With everything now tight, put metal housing back on and tighten the 2 screws down.
-Take the whole unit and slowly slide it back into the tv making sure that the plugs slide into their rightful place. This should be easy, but may require a wiggle or two.
-Now screw in the 2 screws you have left into the plastice mounting piece. Re-attach the door and plug the tv in.Wait a few minutes and then turn on tv.
-It should work.If not, unplug tv and check all connections.
TIP:Do not put a cold bulb in and then turn on immediately.I like to let the bulb sit in the tv with it plugged in for a while until the bulb is warmed and ready.
Good Luck! -Chris

Recentley my tv just turned off. I heard a buzzing sound which happened the 1st time my bulb went out. So I ordered a new one. When the new one was put in it worked for 5 minutes then turned off and...

This could be a couple of things. Look at the cooling fan and be sure that it can spin freely. If it is stuck, the buzzing could be the motor trying to spin the fan. Other than that, the ballast could be failing as well. This is the part that "fires" the lamp. Examine the fan first and let mw know what happens.

Buzzing and glowing on circuit board

That white cylinder is a capacitor and is very dangerous, you need to discharge it and replace it. Does the top seem to be bulging on it? If so, it is bad for sure and it is cheap for a new one. If it continues to buzz after replacing it, then your board has a problem. Replace capacitor before replacing lamp. The lamp still may be good

PT43LC14 Bulb Replacement

Long screwdriver? maybe if you consider about 3" being long (explains why wifes upset). I have replaced the bulb only and the housing with bulb several times with this pos tv. The housing and bulb is one philips screw behind the front snap off panel (the big front piece that has the hdtv stamp in bottom right corner, just pull out it has push in plastic stubs) then remove the philips screw next to the big white warning label where there is a small half circle cutout around it in the label. then one screw on the big black piece of plastic with a fold down metal handle. Then just pull strait out, little snug but as long as you loosen the screw it should slide right out. to replace just slide in whole housing replacement and tighten the 2 screws back up. As for just replacing the bulb, I buy mine off ebay and they have all come with real ez instructions. I believe there is 2 screws holding the clip for the 2 wires coming off the housing, just take that out as the new one comes with wires. you just screw on the 2 wires to new bulb tighten down the wire clip and put it back together. The housing can be just pried open with a flat head screwdriver (think there was a couple tack welds) then after new bulbs in just bend back in as much as you can, it will clear in the tv and be fine so it doesnt need to be exact. Hope this helps and if anyone wants another one of these tv's you can have mine!
