Dvd player not starting up

I have a dvd player that is not starting up but the standby button is flashing at two second intervals. Does the flashing indicate a fixable problem ?

thanks for the info, unfortunately its not economical to get these things repaired so its probably going to end up in the dump.

Hi. In most units of this nature, you will have a stand by mode that will initiate during a major control fault that will concern the main circuit board that is housed inside your DVD players enclosure.

To confirm this control fault within the micro board, i suggest unplugging this unit for 5 minute. this is a hard reset that will drain all power and the micro board will reset itself. After the five minutes are up, simply plug back in the DVD player and power up.

If you experience the same stanby by mode and blinking code light as well after the hard reset, this will confirm the main circuit board control fault.

In this case, you will have to send to the nearest repair depot or, you can ship this device to the manufacture for a main board transplant and re-programing procedures.

Please rate and have a great day:)

DVD stuck inside, player won't turn on, standby light does NOT flash

test the capacitor with a meter to make sure it has the value stated on it.
the work on this unit is quickly exceeding its present value, most likely.
consider upgrading to a higher resolution unit if the fix is more expensive in parts and time than a new unit costs.
good luck

FAC-FC7 DVD player is locked and the Standby indicator flashes

I had the same problem and searched FIX and found a solution for a Phillips DVD player that worked on my Sony DAV-FC7 dvd player. Someone posted that they called their Phillips Tech Service and was told to (a) unplug the dvd unit from the wall and wait 20 seconds, then (b) press the standby+plug the unit back into the wall at the same time and hold for 10 seconds. I did this for my Sony DAV-FC7 which would not power on nor eject (just red light on). IT WORKED!! after doing these steps, my SONY powered on and the rented DVD ejected. The dvd palyer works again. Thanks fellow FIXYA "posters".
