What I would do is invest the time to contact Sony customer service and talk to someone who can access their database.
They like other major companies keep extensive records of every complaint recorded---see if anyone else had this issue.
Sony has had some beauties---Recently an issue where heat warps the door made of plastic in front of the lamp resulted not in a free part but free repair and or replacement of the 3-4 year old sets involved.
Tries tv and cable or satalite boxes unplug, replug it back like about an hour later.Than tries goes into the tv Menu go into Audio Setting and do a resetting back to the factory setting.Follow these steps, should help ur tv sound to come back.
i had prob where my sony would switch off for a few secs thenh come back on . The solution was in menu / tv settings / sleep timer . Go into that and make sure its set to off. there are opions for off , 5 min 20 min 30 min etc... mine was set to nothing just blank.
