I recently moved and now cannot find my foot pedal. I've searched the internet up and down and cannot find anyone who sells just the pedal. I called Yamata directly, unfortunately the woman didn't understand English too well and asked me to email her. Which I did, but never got a response back.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!

please check etsy and the good will website in order to try to find and buy that part. I saw that that each site either sells the full machine or has sellers selling the foot pedal.
Take the foot pedal apart and clean the wire tracks inside with electrical contact cleaner.
If that doesn't work, you need a new one. Please include
make model (what it is)
on all Fixya questions. With that information I can see if it is a known issue and also steer you to an outlet that sells replacements.
Since it was your grandmother's machine, it is very likely the machine has not been used in many years nor has it had any TLC. Most often, the machine will seize due to old oil that has dried out. Resist the temptation to try running the machine until the issue is addressed because the motor can be damaged. If this is the cause of the problem, you will need plenty of patience, good quality oil, possibly a handheld hairdryer, and good ol' elbow grease. But, at the end, you will have a well-functioning sewing machine.
Sounds like you need to open the foot control and adjust the carbon bar, you will soon see it, just undo the screw and move it away from the contact or adjust the screw in the end.
sorry no nothing about sewing manchines ,althought this could be a wire loose in the pedal to sewmanchine .
