Camera detected this error while moving the lens and cut the power automatically. This error message may appear if you press on the lens while its moving. Make sure that when your going to turn on the camera, your hand or fingers will not block the lens to retrack. Turning on the camera in a dusty or sandy environnment is also one reason for this message to be displayed.
Try to remove the battery and re-insert it, then turn on the camera again. If the message still persist, take the camera to a service center because there may be a problem with the lens.
Please let me know if you have any questions and if this solution was helpful.
Unfortunately
a "lens error" message is not something that you will be able to fix. This error indicates a system failure and requires the
camera to be sent in for servicing and repair.
ok sir you have to discharge the codenser, thentake precausions of static electricity,as an engineer u r aware of it ,disassemble the lens unit, including the motor and gear-box,and assemble to work.open the front cover, there will be some locks, release them open, to discharge the condensor.,replace the broken parts/service the guide and guide-pins,manually operate lens normal fuction, chaque the shutter unit too.
lens error, due to the accmulation of foreign particles, that donot allow movment of lens fuction properly, there by u r getting lens error.get it serviced

Did you tell the camera that you are using an external/additional lens? You have to specify it somewhere in the menu, the camera gives you some options (the lens model numbers) and you need to match it with your lens' model number.
Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...
Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:
yes, this happened to me, what you have to do is "snap" the lens back in place, if it is bent anyway. if it is not bent and it says lens error, does it the lens come in and out? if not then it is bent if so then there is a hardware error in the switch and you will have to send it to a profesionall. :) hope i could be some help :)
