Bunn Coffee Maker Leaks out the bottom

When brewing the bunn home coffee maker leaks lots of water out of the bottom.

Our Bunn Thermo Fresh is leaking as well. I noticed there is a crack on the right side of the black reservoir running down the side and bottom. It has certainly NEVER been dropped or hit, it has been in the same spot on the counter for a year. I've read a couple of reports of similar problems. I wonder if this is defective.....

We haven't had our Bunn Thermo Fresh coffee maker very long but when you pour into a cup it leaks a lot of coffee down the front of the stainless street carafe all over the counter. We've tried pouring faster, pouring slower, pouring way over the cup but it still doesn't fix the problem.

i have had the bunn coffee maker for just over one year. the coffee leaks water and coffee grounds all over my counter and if this wasnt enough my carafe also leaks when pouring coffee. we have to pour our coffee over the sink. i am very disapointed in this coffee maker, especially since i paid $150.00 dollars for it. i would not recommend this coffee maker

I have an older BUNN B10 pour-o-matic that I thought was leaking from the bottom. Upon close inspection, I found that it was leaking from the worn out washers located on the top of the tank, allowing water to run down the sides of the stainless steel tank. There's a great fix offered on Fixya.com that suggests going to a hardware store and buying a Gardner Bender GHG-1575 rubber grommet with a 3/4" hole and install it into the large hole in the basin. Then place a metal washer on top of the grommet and snug it up with the threaded fitting. Many folks say it's a great fix. I went a different route. I called BUNN customer service and spoke to a very nice woman who understood my needs and sent out a free repair kit that contained a new fitting, washer, and seal. I received it in a few days and it's working great. Beats going out and buying parts for a work around repair. BTW, the repair kit is called "Universal Retail Seal Replacement Kit #37091.0000"

The water that leaks is cold. It's leaking from the top. Unscrew two screws on the sides of the water-in grate. Lift off and put aside. The next level has 4 screws. Unscrew and put aside. Where the water enters the heating cannister, there is a clear grommet. It pulls off. Put a ring of silicone caulking on the cannister side of grommet and put it back. Press to get a good seal. Now the top part of the grommet also needs a seal. Take the second level piece and put a bead of caulk on outside of hole that goes over the grommet. Press for seal. After caulk has set is should be all-set to use. toms

There are five screws on the top of heating canister. Check to see if they are tightly screwed. I also would nt fill the reservoir till just when you want the coffee. toms

Hi I have had this problem twice....this time I took off the top of the maker to check it out and noticed something loose and this fixed the problem, on mine at least. Lift the lid and take out the two Phillips screws, and remove the grid. Take out the three (or four) Phillips screws on this level and remove the top of the maker. There is a tube, with a hex nut around it, under the swivel arm that shuts off the water when the lid is up. On my maker this nut was very loose, even though the seals were still good. I tightened it with a pair of pliers( don't over tighten) and it hasn't leaked since. I also cleaned the water tray out while I was at it , as it looked rather yechhy. Reassemble and put the screws back in (don't over tighten, as they are in plastic)

I have the Bunn BTX-B with the thermal carafe and it started leaking from the top water holding tray. You need to remove the 3 screws that hold the top cover on and you will be able to see the water holding tray that has the white arm with the rubber stopper on the end. The spot where the rubber stopper rests had a threaded tube with a nut on the top of it where the stopper makes contact. Sometimes this nut is just loose and needs to be tightened or the white gaskets need to be replaced.

After 6 years the area of the black water pan that the nut tightens down on actually deteriorated and was separated from the pan. I called Bunn hoping I could buy a replacement pan. They told me the pan was not available. What do you mean not available. They are sending me a repair kit but they said it might not fix my problem. They suggested that I google bunn repairs to see what other people have come up with. So that means it must be a common problem.. I did find a wonderful gentleman in Minnesota that sells a repair kit that should fix the problem. Here is a link to his web posting,

The problem with the coffee and water running down the carafe when pouring is common, you need to wash the spout of the carafe every day with Dawn dish soap and that will fix the problem.

I have a model B10B which was leaking all over. When I took it apart, I found that one of the seals around the opening to the tank had deteriorated. While researching repair parts, etc., I found there was a recall on my unit, so I called Bunn. They are sending me a modification kit to fix the recall problem and while on the phone, I asked about the washer seal repair kit. They are sending that to me free of charge, along with the tool to clean the spray nozzel. Also free.

I have two Bunn coffee makers that were both leaking. After reading these post I checked out the nut where the water goes into the reservor and both were finger loose. This fixed my problem too. Thanks for the info.

No problem with leaking seals, but two little holes in bottom of plastic bottom piece which has the tubing from the tank. I cannot see anything missing nor did anything fall out. Please advise. Mine is an older model, just a glass pot, no carafe. Thanks!

Bunn coffee maker leaks

VPR has a semi-sealed tank that keeps +1 pot of water heated and ready to brew. Pouring in a full pot of cold water will fill the top tray and allow a slow trickle of cold water into the top which forces hot water to over flow into the brew basket. This continues until all the cold water drains into the heater tank. So the brew is matched volume per volume. UNLESS the tank was empty or not filled prior to brewing. Follow the brewing instructions from Bunn (on line for *FREE* download at Bunn.com)
* If it leaks (from the bottom) only when you pour in water. Then your pouring it too fast and over flowing the fill tray. slowdown, watch the level in the tray. do not fill past the lid.
* If it leaks just sitting (not brewing) then there is a hole in the tank. Call for service.
* If it leaks after filling the tray half way. then the top of the tank has a leak, loose, cracked, or missing gasket. There is quite a few gaskets on the lid. Call for service.
* Final; Leaks are always bad around electrical equip. Best to unplug and call for service to be safe.

My Bunn coffeemaker is leaking water after it stops brewing and the coffee doesn't seem to get as hot as it once did. It also only gives back 4 cups for a 6 cup brew.

if you unscrew the top there's a rubber seal in there that you might have to replace that causes the leaks. also clean your coffee maker regularly with vinegar.
my husband had to replace the seal in ours 4 times but after owning the same Bunn for 20 yrs it was time for a new one

Bunn coffee maker leaks all over the counter. What

there's probably a 'silicon rubber' hose that feeds hot water to the 'grounds basket'- it may be loose, or damaged. is it leaking water, or coffee?? we have a bunn 8-cup, which has a pre-heated water tank that brews a pot in about 3 min. energy waster, but when you need coffee, you need coffee!!! is your filter holder properly centered? is the carafe lid hole clean and un-obstructed?
if it's leaking water, and not too costly to replace- you may consider replacing it with a new one!
good luck!

Water leaking

The silicon seal inside the coffee maker tends to disintergrate. Bunn Inc. does not sell parts for the inside of the coffee makers, but a seal kit can be purchased through a small appliance repair center or repaired for a small cost. Kit is about $8.00 at most places.
