I suspect a fuel supply problem. filter could be plugged. I just went through this yesterday with a john deere. After looking inside the gas tank I found the filter still hooked up to a hose that had broken off inside the tank. New hose's and some fiddling around fixed mine.
Thank you for the suggestion. I'll try that.
Note* after I replaced the fuel lines Mine also did this. I took off the air filter and found it was flooding.I cleared it with compressed air and went to the needle valves. I removed them one at a time and hit them with compressed air.includingthe spot on the carb they came from. Then reinstalled & Cranked them all the way in clockwise until stop. Turned them back out 1 1/2 turns and started the motor. You will have to fiddle this adjustment while it is running to get best performance. I ended up at about one turn counterclockwise from full stop. Also note 2 needle adjusters one marked L = [Idle screw] the other marked H = [hi speed] Good luck
