My tv shows its's geting 1080i only

I have a Mitsubishi WD-65731 and after hooking up the PS3 and playing 4 Brothers blu ray disc, the info button on the tv shows 1080i. Mitsu rep says it's plug and play and should indicate 180p if it is receiving such a signal. I set up the PS3 to output 1080p in the menu. Is there anything that I may have missed? Thanks.

You must have the HDMI cable to view Blu-Rays in 1080p, with a component cable the console downgrades the signal to 1080i for some reason.

1080p signal... THE MITSU. WD-65731 has a resolution of 1080p its just the res your PS3 is pumping into your screen is loaded with a little bit more pixels than you 1080p res MITSU. I suggest getting a MITSU WD-57731 since it has a 1080P/24 input. and has great clarity and HD ample for the BD of your PS3. however the differences in picture rate and quality is very small. goodluck.

My ps3 will play ps3 games but not dvds. it loads the dvd then turns black. Any suggestions?

You can follow below steps to play DVDs on PS3.
Step 1: Insert Blu-ray disc into PS3's Blu-ray drive. Playing Blu-ray disc movie works exactly the same way as entering a game, except you need to head into the Video Tab in your PS3's home menu, rather than the Game Tab. Highlight the Blu-Ray and press X to start it immediately.
Step 2: Now the Blu-ray disc will load like a traditional DVD. Use your controller to access the menu, and use the D-Pad to select your option and press X to enter. When the media is playing, you can press triangle to open a mini-menu that will give you access to options such as subtitles, audio channels and volume. You can also access the main menu, using the arrow keys to navigate. Press triangle again to close this menu.

However, if you can't do it successfully, try to convert DVD to regular video and transfer to PS3.
Step 1: Download and install Leawo Blu-ray to PS3 Converter, and then launch it.

Step 2: Get source Blu-ray movies ready. Insert Blu-ray disc to the Blu-ray drive, or get source Blu-ray folders ready for loading and converting.
Step 3: Load Blu-ray sources
Click "Add Blu-ray/DVD" button on the program interface. This Blu-ray to PS3 converter would then guide you to browse source Blu-ray movies for loading.
Note: After loading source Blu-ray movies, you could select subtitles and audio tracks, play source Blu-ray movies, edit Blu-ray movies, snap screenshots, etc.
Step 4: Do output settings

Next to the "Add Blu-ray/DVD" button, click the dropdown box and select "Change". You will then arrive at the Profile setting panel to select output format from "Format" group or "Device" group. Select "MP4? from "Format" or directly choose "PS3? from "Device > Sony".

Optional settings: After you've set the output format, click the same dorp-down box and click "Edit" option and then you could adjust video and audio parameters of selected profile, including: video codec, audio codec, bit rate, aspect ratio, frame rate, channel, etc.
Step 5: Start converting Blu-ray to PS3

Back to the main program interface, click the green "Convert" button. You could then set an output directory on the right popup sidebar. After setting output dirctory, click the below convert button to let this Blu-ray to PS3 Ripper instantly start converting Blu-ray to PS3 videos.
Note: Internet connection is required during the whole conversion.
After you convert Blu-ray to PS3 friendlier videos, you can transfer the videos to PS3 and then start to play Blu-ray on PS3 in a indirect way. For details, you can read the extension part.

My new 3.15 ps3 won't play blu-ray but will play everything else no problem. no problems to play games or to play normal dvd's. When playing a blu-ray the UNIVERSAL part at the start of the movie plays...

f the Blu-ray Disc does not support 1080p 24Hz video mode, the video output may not display properly.

If a Blu-ray Disc movie is not loading properly or is freezing on a title screen, this may be caused by the PLAYSTATION 3 attempting to download BD-Live content from congested movie studio servers. If you experience this issue, you may choose to temporarily bypass the BD-Live content until the congestion at the movie studio servers has cleared.

Go to Settings icon (Settings) > Video Settings icon (Video Settings) > [BD Internet Connection], select "Confirm". Then reload the Blu-ray movie and the PLAYSTATION 3 will prompt you if you wish to allow the disc to access BD-Live content. Choose to not access BD-Live content to see if the movie will now load.
For some reason you seem to think this is a PS3 problem. Why do you think this is a PS3 problem? If you can play PS3 games, then I will say it is not a PS3 problem, as all PS3 games are on Blu-ray, and if you were having problems playing PS3 games, then that could account for the movie not working.

Since only the movie isn't working, I am going to say you have a defective Blu-ray disc. Did you just buy this movie, or have you viewed it before using the PS3? If you have never viewed it on the PS3, then the problem lies in the disc, and you need to take it back and have it exchanged.

If you have played the disc in the PS3 before (the PS3 you are having a problem with, not a different PS3 or Blu-ray player), or you still think it is a PS3 problem, then use the "Disc Troubleshooting" support page. Normally, if a Blu-ray movie will not play, it won't play at all, and it is because the Blu-ray laser has gone out. It sounds to me that the disc is bad, but this is only going on the information you have supplied.

Here is the Disc Troubleshooting support page mentioned above:http://playstation.custhelp.com/app/answ…

**EDIT**
Sorry, I just noticed you gave a UK link. Here is the support page for the UK. You will have to do a search on the site to find the Disc Troubleshooting page for your region.http://uk.playstation.com/support/

PS3 not working on 42'' JVC via HDMI cable port

I have the PS3 and this TV and it works....Try this.

1. Turn ON TV
2. Connect HDMI from TV to PS3
3. Select the correct HDMI input on the TV for the PS3(important)
4.Turn OFF PS3 if it is ON.
5. hold [I/O] Power button on PS3
6. Wait about 5 second and you should get the "HDMI Detected" or some similar message.
7. Configure the HDMI output for the PS3

Also, If you set the PS3 to "auto" for hdmi, it may set the resolution to 1080i. You may want to deselect everthing but the 1080P.

Mitsubishi 55 in. 1080 series

If I remember correctly, this TV has a couple of constraints that will cramp your style:

1. It supports 480i, 480p and 1080i. NO 720P
2. It has component video inputs, but NO HDMI. (as you stated)

There is no easy solution here, because I've never found an upconverting DVD player that would upconvert anything past 480p using the analog component outputs...

So..

Perhaps you can find an Upconverting BLU-RAY disk player that may allow older DVDs to be upconverted to 1080i via the component outputs.

MOST Blu-Ray players allow 1080i output via the analog connections on Blu-Ray discs, so perhaps there is your solution.

PS3 WON'T PLAY BLU-RAY DISCS

The problem is all in the settings. You probably have a 1080i television that cannot display in 1080p. To fix this go to the main menu and go to:

Settings:

Video Settings

Then Blu Ray Disc and make it turn the Display BD in 1080p 24hz or whatever. Once you do that, start the Blu Ray Disc again, and you should be able to watch it. This all happened because your tv doesn't display 1080p.

Hope this helps!

Cant get hdmi for ps3 to work on my jvc hd 52g887

Had same problem with Panasonic PT60LC14 tv when connecting by HDMI cord to my PS3 and a blue ray disc was playing. First, read your tv manual to see what video inputs it supports . Then read the PS3 online manual (section on "video output settings").

For me I found out that my tv only supported 1080i (along with 480i/p, 780p) and the ps3 manual says blue ray outputs 1080p, so my blue ray discs will not play on my tv according to the PS3 manual. PS3 manual says to restart the ps3 (power off, then power on and HOLD for 5 seconds) - then the standard video output settings should be reset. Hopefully the ps3 menu will pop up at least. I haven't tried this yet but if it doesn't work, i'll may try to reset PS3 video out settings manually first using another tv that works with it ..

How do I put it to 1080 resolution

I have this same TV and a PS3. You either need to get a HDMI - DVI cable, or plug in some component cables in order to get 1080i from your PS3. Your DVD's will upscale to 1080i and your Blue_Rays will run at 1080i, but be aware, if you play PS3 games that only read 720p on the back of the game box, the PS3 will down convert them to 480p instead of upconverting them to 1080i.

Will not display 1080p from a Sony ps3??

Connect your PS3 through the HDMI 2 port on the TV and as a PC under the tv settings. Then auto setup the tv on the PS3 and it will now see it as 1080P. It will give you some error message whenever the PS3 is first turned on but it will work. Hope this helps everyone.

Ws-65807 65" mitsubishi rear projection tv

For this unit and the addition of the secuity features of Blu-Ray, the 1080i you set can handle is through the component input from a DVD player or an XBOX. In the configuration menu of the PS3, change the resolution to 1080i and see if your set will reset to it. The 1080i on the Blu-Ray is only possible on the HDMI cable as far as I could find, again due to the security restriction. The Mitsu is not going to run it in 720p due to the PS3 is running component and cannot control sync to this set.
