What oil to use for a Masport maxicatch lawn mower?

if it is a 4 stroke then regular unleaded is good
make sure that there is oil in the sump
the fuel type is in the owners manual

Blades could be hitting dead grass under mower deck,or the blade is loose !

on lawnmowers in general use 30W or 10W30 should be printed next to were the oil goes in at.

get on the computer and go to yahoo or MSN or google and put in (manauls for masport maxcut lawn mower) or Ebay

Go to youtube On line type step by step assembling masport 400

It will run for a few minutes and then shut down?
Lets ignore the growl for now. Loosen Gas cap and see if it will keep running. The rattle might be in the pull cord mechanism..possibly not related to stalling issue

Check the spark plug is clean

The mowers are:
Model 400 (3.5 hp Briggs and Stratton)
Model 500 (Honda GX160)
Model 660 (Honda GX160)

Unleaded petrol, it is a 4-stroke

you likley will need a new air filter and a carb cleaning. when mowers are turned on their side. oil will seep past the piston and if your intake valve was open it can pass thru into the carb and also spoil your air filter. I am assumeing you have a paper air filter. start by taking off your air filter. then you should also pull the spark plug, place a rag covering the hole. then pull the cord a couple times. chances are that you will blow the oil out of the cylinder.
