There is no way to splice a coax cable that is satisfactory. It is best to replace the cable. Be safe not sorry.

I have a 276c garmin, use it off road, in the forest I lose reception, in open area I do not. My buddies have the garmin 60 series and they do not lose reception in the forest. Any suggestions? Thank...

Try using an external antena, these are availble from Garmin, all you do is remove the existing arial and plug the lead from the external antena in. Then mount the external antena on your roof.

Can you get a signal without cable or a converter box

Yes,if ur tv is a LCD or a Plasma tvs.It have the tuner inside already it will recieve the digital tv free air brocast.Must have a good antena though like a roof antena,or a digital inside antena. To get excellent signal. So it would cut in and out the broscast of the free digital signal.

Cut antenna wire raymarine 300waas gps

That unit uses a TNC connector. Just have someone install a new one on the end of the cable. IT's a little more difficult than a F connector for a TV but not rocket science. You can also send it in to Mid-Shore Electronics. Just google them and get their number. They have alot of experience with the older stuff.

My Raystar 120 GPS keeps losing its fix.... the fix comes b ack a few minutes later, but then i lose it again. I have tried a cold restart, but the problem persists. Ideas?

Guys, most likely the litium battery is eol. Buy a new litium 3 volts battery for 3-4 euro's with soldering points . Use a pair of scissors, note the plus and minus side of the poles and carefully cut out the battery leaving enough metal to solder a replacement battery. Solder the replacement battery, and the problem is fixed. You're ready for another 6 years of fun saving 300 USD for a new GPS!

My nuvi 350 won't acquire satellites

It took about 45minutes of holding on Garmin's tech support line but when I finally got through here's what they'll ask you.

1) Have you tried a hard reset?
-Just push the reset button on the back below the GPS antena
2) Have you updated the software to the most current version?
-Run the Garmin web update utility after you've connected your GPS receiver to your PC via USB. Update the software (current version 5.6) and the GPS Chipset Software (current version 3.0)
3) Have you tried a master reset?
-WARNING THIS COULD ERASE YOUR ENTIRE FAVORITES SECTION. But you turn off the GPS push on the top right hand corner of the screen while you power up the unit and it will ask you if you want to perform a master reset.
After you've done all this (and you can save yourself some time by just doing it before you call) they'll tell you its probabbly a diode in the unit that controls the antena. See that little gold looking hole in the GPS antena? That's where you can connect the external antena the diode the controls where the unit gets its satellite signals from (IE from internal or external antena) is known to mess up if the unit is left in extreme heat (a hot car would do it) however aparently since this is such a common problem Garmin is accepting RMA's for the units even if their several weeks out of warentee (mine was and i just sent it off for this very same reason). More often than not they'll simply replace the unit with a refab and you'll be back in bussiness in no time. Hope this helps!

Non grnd steel antena

I assume your coax is not hooked up properly or you have some kink of a short in your antenna connection ( thats if your cb is working properly ) Radio Shacks Information that suggested that the 102" whip is the perfect antenna is their opion only as I prefer to recommend a full wave antenna system to my customers, but I do assure you, the 102" whip does work well if it's properly installed. I have found the main problem in the 102" whip installation is when the center hole is cut to install the antenna, it's not cut big enough, which grounds the antenna. It's not suppose to be grounded in any fashion to the automible chassis. The ground of this antenna comes from the 3 screws mounted around the outside of the antenna mount. Check that for sure. If you can't correct the problem. write me back at this web sight of direct at [email protected]. Good Luck
