SOURCE: How do you replace the printheads on a Canon ip4000?
When you open your top cover (with power on of course) your print carriage will move across to the centre of the printer. Remove your ink tanks (same way you always would) and the place where the cartridges sit is actually your printhead. To remove it you need to lift the small gray arm on the side of the carriage upward. Now the printhead itself will just slide out. Replace with new one same procedure as removal reversed.
The cartrige is what holds the ink, the printhead is the device that puts the ink onto the paper.
So if your out of ink, then you need a new cartridge, if you have a new cartridge and you are having issues printing good quality, then you may need a new printhead.
you can get the ink here: http://printerinkcartridgesearch.printcountry.com/canon-pixma-mp830-ink-cartridges.htm
printhead is about 49.95

SOURCE: Canon Pixma Mini 260 - Error Code 5100
I'll presume you are confidant you have installed the LATEST drivers and software according to provided installation instructions.
I'll tell you though, I think in all likelyhood you did. Why? Because per Canon technical documenation, error codes 5xxx thru 9xxx displayed on the device's LCD have only a two pronged solution troubleshooter:
OPTIONS (if solution 1 doesn't work):
SOLUTION 2: The mini260 may require repair.
Call 800-828-4040 (Mon-Fri 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. EST, excluding holidays), OR ...
email @ https://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SupportMailerAct&fcategoryid=259&modelid=14098
After all, it wouldn't hurt to let their tech-rep have a crack at it, but more importantly, corroborate/confirm it's in need of repair (potentially adds one more bullet to your chamber).
Good luck, and please post back to let me know how things work out, or if you have any further questions.

Hi
This may work
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.
Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.
Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.
Solution 3:
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.
Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.
