There are 4 different versions sound card drivers for this Dell Dimension model (4600).
Go to 4600 and select Audio then download which version from the list for your desktop.
Either your soundcard driver has gotten corrupted or your soundcard has died. You can find both the driver & info on what card you have at www.dell.com. Click on the support link and you can either input your Dell Service Tag & get exact system info, or you can look it up using the system model #. The driver will be available for download. Try reinstalling an updated driver first. If that still doesn't work check your device manager to see if a soundcard is listed. If it is not then more than likely your card has died and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps.
It sounds as though you need a sound driver reinstalled go to the dell techsupport and driver web site all kinds of drivers there just give them your model and other info they may need good luck hope i helped:)
You can move it but you have to remember that its going to have different hardware then your dell 4300 so it might require you to install drivers for the hardware that windows XP pro can't recognize. Keep that in mind so as long as you know where to go to get drivers for the hardware in that other machine, it won't be a problem.
