No mention of noises so I'll have to guess.
If it's a recently repaired transmission, torque converter/starter ring nuts or bolts fell out.
IF: Standard trans:
Clutch completely shot or Pressure plate broken/locked short of contact. Output shaft broken, driveshaft/u-joint broken. Pinion gear loose/broken.
IF: Auto trans:
Overheated trans led to blown O-rings internally causing failure of the clutches/components. Output shaft broken, driveshaft/u-joint broken. Pinion gear loose/broken.
