SOURCE: Final Spin Drum BANGS around--terribly frightening noise!

Check the spring that hold the drum in place. They are about 4-5 inches long on the top of the drum at about 2 and 10 o'clock. The springs suspend the drum and if broken the drum will bang around. About $40 to order springs online

Also check on the bottom at about 4 and and 7 o'clock because there are 2 shock absorbers that help keep the drum from just bouncing and bouncing with no end in sight. Again about $40 to change each one.

I am in the process of the first repair and doesn't seem too difficult. The second was done about 6 months ago and was not too difficult but was awkward because you had to lay on the floor to get the replacement pins in place.

SOURCE: Walking during the spin cycle

My GE front load washer model WCVH6800JBB have the same problem. I just purchased and installed it yesterday, 05/04/09. Just like everyone said... when it got to the spinning cycle it walked to the middle of my garage and all the connections in the back of the machine fell off. My husband checked the instruction... There are 4 nut bolts in the back of the machine near the rubber leg (level). You need to take them off and try to balance your machine again. My washer is running very smooth now. Good luck!

The tub continues to go off balance in spin cycle. Starts out smooth then starts to wobble terribly til the UL shows and shuts down. Support rods are good

There is a little device inside the washer that allows the agitator to spin independent of the drum. If this gets stuck, the washer will try to spin the whole drum instead of just the agitator. This will cause the washer to think the load is too large or out of balance, causing the error code. On some Whirlpools this device is just a washer.

My Ge Hydrowave doesn't know what cycle it's in. It agitates when in spin cycle and doesn't spin at all.

Hello,

That problem with your washer sounds like its the mode shifter solonoid,To check it use a multimeter set to ohms and measure for appx. 98 ohms on that solonoid coil.

What you can try first though is to reset the motor control baord and that remedies so many troubles with the Hydrowave washer. This tip i wrote will tell ya how to reset the motor board.

Why won't my washer spin? It is balanced & the load is small and balanced also.

Their is a strong possibility a momentary power glitch has tripped the motor inverter. You can reset the inverter. To Reset the Inverter board on the motor push the timer knob in so the washer is idle or if digital have the machine in the off position. Unplug the machine for one minute. Plug back in and raise and lower the lid six times within 12 seconds. This might take more than one time.

After resetting the inverter board, put the machine in a spin cycle and see if it runs. I took the time to write a note about it for Fixya: How it works GE Hydrowave washer
I included a service manual there also. Hopefully you will be able to reset it. If you can't a fuse may need to be replaced. I included details there also. Thanks for using Fixya.e4e3910.gif

MAYTAG LAT8506AAE WASHER - TERRIBLE NOISE/VIBRATION ON SPIN

Try this for re-setting the balancing mechanism:
With the washer empty, tip tip it forward so that it is just sitting on the front feet. Hold it there for a few seconds, then gently lower the back down. (Often there is a mechanism in the back feet that automatically levels it for you--if this doesn't work, check that the back feet are not damaged.)
