The batteries are under the seat, which you need to take off and the cover as well. The key only turns the scooter on/off.

Testimonial: "I am sorry I didn't explain what I wanted very well. I wanted to see a picture on how the batteries set in the tray and what they looked like. I did take the cover off and seen it did have batteries and how they were installed. (need new batteries) I found out the key works ON when pushed in and OFF when pulled out. Thanks for trying."

The batteries for Pride are usually a U1 sealed cell battery.

Shoprider Mobility Scooter. My chair is a shoprider. I ran into 12 pack of soda and the scooter wrench is blinking and the lights across the top are blinking.

You can try pressing the reset button, or disconnect the battery for 10 minutes.

Shoprider ECHO 3-Wheel Mobility Scooter. The driven wheels turn for a second, but then clicks out.

Question edited for a lot more clarity.
Question moved from Cars and Trucks to Make model category.

Is it tripping the breaker? If so it is likely an issue with the motors or the controller.

Circuit Breaker (Reset Button)
Your scooter is fitted with the latest in electronic controls that are programmed to protect
the electrical system from abnormal overloads. Provided for extra protection is a circuit
breaker, located on the battery pack. Should there be a situation where your scooter stops
for no apparent reason, please check that the circuit breaker has not popped.
NOTE: To preserve battery charge, your scooter may go into sleep mode after being idle for
a few minutes. To remove from sleep mode, turn the scooter switch off and back on again.
Check List
If your scooter fails to operate, please check the following:
• Unit is switched on.
• Drive/Freewheel mechanism is in the drive position.
• All plugs and connectors are clean and firmly connected.
• Battery level shows full charge.
If the free wheel device has been operated with the scooter switched on, then the scooter
will not operate until the ignition key has been switched off and then on again.
Please consult your dealer if your scooter does not run after checking these points.

Pride controller

It depends on how much voltage your batteries are currently carrying. You can check the voltage of both batteries by placing positive needle of multimeter on breaker and negative on negative terminal of battery. If the batteries are good it will typically read 26.02 or close to it. If the batteries are reading closer to 24v, the batteries are more than likely bad. AGM Batteries are more than likely bad when the volt meter reads 12.06 or below. Place battery under load, if it drops more than 2v, replace batteries (both Batteries).

Assuming the batteries are fine; place the multimeter on the output of the controller unit (white connector) and see if the voltage matches.

It is possible the the battery could be damaged after being stored for that length of time. If it was wasn't completely charged before storage, or if it was exposed to extreme temperatures (even for a short amount of time) you may need to find a replacement battery. http://www.batteryinternational.com/electric-scooter-batteries.html should have the battery you need.

My Pride Mobility Celebrity X Scooter appears to be dead.

Many people have problems with their Pride scooters.
Pride refuses to issue any information or schematics, telling the customer to visit their dealer for chargable service.

Guess what !! The dealers don't have the info or schematics or service manuals either !!!

There are known faults and flaws in the Pride designs.

Look under the 'hood' for the controller - big box with heavy wires connected to the motor. Write down the manufacturer and model number from the data plate.

Go to the manufacturer's web site and get your manuals and info there. Curtis 1228 is a common model.

Also, pay attention to the temperature limits, and EMF / RFI sensitivity -- big problem !!

Finally, if your dealer service rep suggested offsetting the throttle handle slightly for more speed, he may have created another problem -- all controllers have a PROGRAMMED deadband, shifting the centering of the throttle lever throws the whole system out of balance - integral part of original setup.

Bottom line - find a reliable independent instrumentation and controls service person who is familiar with programmed electronic motor controllers.

Good Luck
