No sound when my computer is connected to my Sony Bravia TV

My computer has a DVI output for video and I have a DVI to HDMI cable attached. Vidoe works great but I have no audio from my computer. The Sony TV audio ro audio 3.5mm jack to jack does not work when the video is playin DVI to HDMI. There is a red and while RCA jack connection under the HDMI port connection that is labeled audio on the computer. Do I connect this from my 3.5 audio out jack on the computer to these two RCA jacks? If so where can I get this cable?

If your computer has a svga output use input 7 on tv with vga to vga cable and 3.5-3.5 Radioshack 42-2387 cable for audio for best results. If you use the dvi to hdmi on input 6 on tv use 3.5- rca Radioshack part number 42-2551 1/8=3.5mm.

How can i connect my hp pavillion s5610y to my bravia tv

This is a bit complicated since there is no HDMI output capability to the PC, only VGA and DVI. First, check to see if the Bravia has one of its HDMI ports listed as DVI capable. If it does, it should have accompanying audio jacks (red/white) for it. What you would need to get is two different cables for interface. The first is a DVI-to HDMI cable to run from the PC DVI port to the Bravia DVI-compatible HDMI port. You cannot run the DVI to a regular HDMI port because if you do you will get only picture and no sound. DVI outputs, unlike HDMI outputs, do not carry the audio signal. A DVI-compatible HDMI port on a TV set will connect the video from the HDMI port and the audio from the reserved audio port accompanying it. The second cable you need will be a mini stereo audio plug to RCA jacks. This will connect between the PC audio out (green), and the DVI audio plugs on the set. See pictures for cables below

Once you have this done, selecting the appropriate HDMI port on the set should result in audio and video getting to the unit. If you only need the video (you are going to use the PC speakers), then you don't need the audio cable and you can use any HDMI port, but you cannot control the volume using the TV set remote. You would need to use the PC volume settings. (Just as an afterthought if the set has no DVI-compatible HDMI port).

Cant get hdmi to work

What device are you connecting to the TV? Are you using an HDMI to HDMI cable or a DVI to HDMI cable (or another adapter in the cable or between the cables)?

Try using a different cable. Try connecting the source device to another TV. Basically, you want to see whether the TV's HDMI input is bad, the device output is not active, or if the cable is bad (or an adapter attached to the cable is bad). Adapters are likely failure points. If you are using a DVI to HDMI cable, check your cable and device specs. Single-link and dual-link DVI are different and not interchangeable when attached to an HDMI cable end.

I hope this helps.

(some computers (esp. laptops) will have external video ports turned off by default and you need to turn them on before you try to send the output to an external monitor (TV).)

How can I connect Panasonic TH-37PX60U Flat panel plasma tv to my computer?

It will depend on your video output options on the computer. If you have HDMI output, just use an HDMI cable and an audio cable (this will need to be a 3.5 mm to RCA audio cable). If you have a DVI output, use a DVI to HDMI cable and the audio cable (or a DVI to HDMI adapter and either a DVI or HDMI cable depending on which side you want to put the adapter). If you only have VGA out from the computer, use a VGA to DVI adapter and the DVI to HDMI connection and the audio connection. (Theoretically this should work but each adapter will have some signal loss issues.)

Some graphics cards have a video output, S-video or Component video, which would also connect to your TV with the audio cable. (Read your cards manual for more information)

I hope this helps.

(For DVI to HDMI cables, you will need to check if you have a single link or dual link DVI output. The wrong cable may not work.)

How can i watch movies from computer to my tv

You probably need to get a composite video output card for your computer. Actually, I've seen many cards that have both a composite video output AND a DVI output port on 1 card. The DVI output will give you a noticeably sharper picture than composite video, but you need to check if your TV has a DVI or HDMI input. (If it was manufactured after 2000, it probably does.) If you TV was manufactured after 2006, it probably has 1 or more HDMI inputs instead of DVI. You can buy a DVI to HDMI converter cable. That takes care of the picture; to get sound to the TV, you will need to connect separate sound cables to your TV. Your computer needs to have a line-level output jack on it's sound card, and you will need to get an adapter cable (from Radio Shack) to convert the stereo mini-plug to 2 RCA type plugs to plug into your TV. And that should do it!

Can i connect a dvid cable from the monitor to my flat screen tv hdmi to watch videos from my computer? Thank you Martin

the Flat Screen TV if has, a HDMI input, also has VGA Input.

You must choose :HDMI or VGA, if HDMI The VGA board must Have HDMI Connector, and you connect a HDMI cable to the TV.

The HDMI is a digital signal input/output, VGA is Analog Signal. You must have Signal Converter if you Use the 2 signals

No sound on pc connection

HDMI outputs from devices such as DVD players do carry both video and audio, but the HDMI output from your computer video card only carries video. You'll need to connect a cable from the computer sound output to the TV as well.
