Tv problem samsung PCN5425R 54 in.

I have red bow on top on my skreen and green color is not line up with the rest of the skreen image.

    Very easy repair....Just replace the convergence amp board part# BP95-00142E
    (about $80) It includes both convergence IC's and associated components (Five connectors,one screw,easy access)no soldering...

    One of two things:You either never had a convergence problem to begin with or more likely you need to go into the convergence service mode and do the alignments (green can only be adjusted in the service mode)

    a friend of ours wants to give us this modeal and said :



    the green lamp wire became disconnected now the picture does not have green and you cannot adjust green because it is not on the screen, just red and blue, help - also does any one have service manual and alignment ??? It is a samsung pcn5425r



    we don't know if we should take it if it is not an easy fix, then what ??? any suggestions ? he said he was watching TV and a green stripe (Like faded) is on the screen ???????

    I have a similar problem.  My blue is right on but my red is way off to the right.  I went into the menu mode to try to line up the crosses but it would not move left as needed.  My question is do I need to replace the whole convergence panel or just the STK392-040 piece?

    My TV looks blurry only on the left side of the screen, and I don't have the original remote to try to fix the convergence... the auto-focus only gets to 5% then quits when I try to realign it... any suggestions? I've had this TV for years and it just got out of focus yesterday...

    If anyone has the alignment service mode information can you email it to me at [email protected] pretty please? I got the new board but it's still not lining up correctly between the crosshairs even tho the cross hairs are a close as possible. Thanks for your help.

    One of two things:You either never had a convergence problem to begin with or more likely you need to go into the convergence service mode and do the alignments (green can only be adjusted in the service mode)

Man it seems like the PCN5425R is beating everybody up. Well let me join the group. I had my convergence board replace because I had bow in the picture. And that fix the problem. Then I had the blue color started turning green. Then I had someone to come out to fix it. And he clean the blue lamp out and reseal it. It left a slight blue haze but it not to bad. Now I have diagonal lines in the picture. Even when I change the mode to video to watch DVD it's still there. I had a guy come out to look at it. And he basically told me to get another tv because the part is hard to find. I'm looking for a second opinion. Can this be fix?

I am having similar problems with convergence.  When I go into the remote manual convergence mode, the blue is perfect and the red is way off.  My question is do I need the whole convergence board or just the STK392-040 semiconductor?

Projection sets have two very common problems.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped or bowed
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Your convergence ic’s have failed, this is a common problem with most all projection tv’s, the repair is involved. I suggest in your case calling a local repair shop.

that's right my friend, you have a convergence problem, you need to replace the stk's and it is possible that you have some burned resistors. if can't do it yourself  you are looking $250.00 repair

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projeciton sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.

Actually the TOP Left blue corner cannot be allinged properly thru manual blue convertion.  Red is aligned correctly.

"Red means your set is heading towards being dead" is the general rule I've always followed. Red means there is some serious internal issues. There is one thing that might mean its not serious. If you have component hooked up, check the cables to make sure its hooked up properly with the correct colors on the correct color inputs. that can make a huge difference. If you have them incorrectly hooked up it can turn the image all red on your screen. Otherwise, it appears your set is headed towards needing some service. This is not something you can just fix on your own. Is your product still under the manufacturer's warranty or an ext. warranty? Good luck. keep us posted!
